Took him out to the port this morning to get the skunk off his new pole. We hit crappie row, and he get three fairly fast, and then I look around, and the water is like glass. I paddle to shore, unload my gear and cut him loose paddling the yak. He dow fantastic, and in no time has the maneuvering down. I cut him loose with his rod and the bucket of minnows, and he comes back with three more Crappie! He did fantastic. Then he wants to drift a jumbo minnow for stripers. I get him rigged up and he goes out. About ten minutes into it, I see his rod fold, and hear the reel. He grabs it and that striper takes of like a rocket! It flies out of the water, and had to be 15-20 pounds, easy. A few hard head shakes, and it comes unbuttoned. I am sure his drag was too loose. He had a blast anyhow. Got home, cleaned the fish, now he is bored. Kids.

He looks like a natural. I can't wait to get Ryan out on my old yak. I'm sure he'll remember this birthday for a long time.

He has a great day, he has thanked me a hundred times over today. He wants fish tacos with that sauce again out of his crappie. He loves that stuff, and well, I like it too. I picked up some tempora for the fish to give it a little more breading this time.

Gabe, the bite is definately on in the morning. No wind either. We got a little late start, but I think if a guy was there are sunrise, he would limit out. We did not catch a single catfish. I think we cleaned the area out of them the other day.
