Well today the wife and I launched at Sandy Beach in Rio Vista then headed toward the Power Lines as the tide turned. *Caught this 58"...my first Strugeon ever and I wasn't even fishing for one *:-?. *I don't know the weight being that I don't have a scale. *Used frozen Shad, outgoing tide, water temp 47 degrees in 30' of water. *Great day...btw I released it *;).

Congrats on the catch and release Kababayan!

Have not fished the Delta at all. Mind if I tag along with you in the near future?

Thanks,

Brat Popper

Hey Brad, *PM sent.

BTW, *I wasn't targetting Sturgeon yesterday, I was fishing for Stripers and that doggone dino decided to commit suicide on my hook *:o ;D ;D

Fortunate for him, being that I've never cleaned one, I released him *8-)

Fish on!

great job landing the dino on a striper rod ;) you never know what going to hit your rig when you are bait fishing.

I drove by today about noonish on my way to my daughter's house in Concord. Very windy with white caps, but there were still a couple of boats out there...one was in an aluminum 14' boat...die hards :o. I'll check the weather report for the coming week, rain I can handle and if it's not windy, I'll head out there again.

Seon,

Pretty good for 20# test. *i used to land shaker sturgies with 20#trilene big game, but would always lose the bigger ones.

See ya out on the water.

Great job getting that fish in with the light tackle. You hooked on sturgeon now, or are you going back fishing for 'stripers' again? =

Very good question. *This fishing thing has gotten quite a bit expensive for me. *Buying a boat, then outfitting it was GPS/Sonar, down rigging for trout, rod holders, VHF radio with antenna, kicker for trolling, kicker bracket, so on and so on. *Then buying line counter reels for trolling, heavier rods for stripers....heck, I'm preaching to the choir *;D.
At any rate, I think I'll use my existing light striper tackle but connect a wire leader on one rod for Dinos and the other rod with mono for stripers *;).

I hear ya. Can't give up now, right?

If your luck is anything like mine, you'll get nothing but striper on the sturgeon setup, and vice-versa. =
