Yep. I did it!

As mentioned in the report card thread, I've been looking for a new boat. What I wanted was the Westcoaster 152 Widebody. That's a Valco boat that was their welded line to compete with Klamath I guess. I wanted a boat small enough to tow behind my Chevy HHR, and still stout enough for Suisun Bay. That little WC152 would fit the bill just right, but they're hard to find.

I found one on Craigslist this morning! The seller posted it at 10:00 last night and by the time I called before 8:00 this morning, he'd had four other inquiries! I hauled butt up to Sacramento and bought it on the spot. $6000 seemed fair. A new Klamath 16 WT with a 4-stroke and trailer is around $20000. And I was tempted.

She's kinda rough looking - and I want a boat I don't have to keep pretty. She's a '94 with two 2-strokes, a 48 HP Johnson and a 6 HP Merc. Both engines will be removed and sold, then replaced with a new 4-stroke and an electric troller. And all new electronics will be added, too.

I likely will be dinging around with her 'til May before she's ready to fish as I want her. That will include two months off for wifey's foot surgery in February when I'll be a nursemaid here at home.

It feels good to have a boat again! :D

I am happy for you Dale. Like so many of us said earlier, you wont stay away too long. Once a sniffer/fisherman, always a fisherman!! Congrats once again.
