View Full Version : Napa River 10/8 (12.5 lbs. striper with pic.)

Fished solo in the river today & landed my personal best striper at 12.5 lbs. *I also landed one at 5 lbs. along with about 8 or 9 shakers.
All fish were caught on live bullheads during both tides, but the incoming seemed a little better.
I was fishing just North of the power lines in 2 to 4 feet of water. *The weather was real nice until the wind started blowing around 1:00pm.
The stripers are definitely there, but the fishermen arenít. *I guess everybody is chasing salmon in the Sac.

Nice fish Hopsmacker. And it's a good thing to have the stripers present without all the fishermen out there puttin' pressure on the water. Wouldn't have it any other way!;D

I was thinking the exact same thing..... I love when most guys are focusing on salmon this time of year and the stripers are on the move.
Good luck to all!

Nice fish!!! Napa River never seems to have much fishing pressure. I have been fishing it for 10 years now and theres never alot of boats. Where did you get the live bullheads. Most bait shops in Napa don't carry live bait. Shel

Millies Bait in Vallejo just about 1 mile from the public boat launch.

Nice one.
Surprisingly not that many people fish the Napa in fact itís tough to even get a report most of the time. One of my favorite spots.
The power lines are about 2 or 3 miles above the 37 bridge.

Nice fish. I was out there on 10/08 and caught 3 under sized stripers. Nice day on the water. It seems like there were more fished marked closer to town.

If I remember correct, that's your lucky spot! *I remember you posting some Pics last year on the Napa river with some stripers! *I've never fished the Napa river, I'm going to have to get some info. *Where to launch, bait shops, etc. *Thanks for the post and Pic.
