Two sundays ago above Miller park I was fishing with my wife and caught this monster. Before my wife could get the anchor up and the boat in reverse the striper almost spooled me. 45 minutes later she netted the fish. We are out there fishing almost every weekend now.

We were using cut anchovies. Any one else have any good striper pics or baits?

Nice striper. I am having my fun with small ones here at the O'neill Forebay. That is cool that your wife was there to witness it!

Holy cow The striper 916 steelhead caught is a real monster. My god what a fight that must of been. Did you have to drag it in to shore or were you on the boat? I heard stripers get realy large but your fish is truely a giant. Thanks for posting it.

Hey Watertrip. Catching the small ones is normally what we do in between Salmon fishing. I was using our trout rods because we normally catch small ones as well and catfish.

916, please stop posting those pics from the east coast. They make our striper fishing look lamb. How much did that hog weigh?

trmpb,

That's a nice Striper you caught there, and congratulations on landing it only on 6lb. test line. It must have been fun fighting it.

916steelhead,

That is a HUGE striper that guy caught. I want to go to the East Coast and Striper fish. I wonder if there's a hog like that swimming around somewhere in the Sac, American, or Delta.

trmpb, Good catch! I really like the fact you caught it on 6lb test. I bet you had a blast getting that fish in.

Way to go ;D Nice striper on light tackle. Was it a light bite or a real take down?

The bite was just like any other small striper or catfish. *A couple of nibbles and then I set the hook and off and off and off it went. *I must say it was extremely exciting fighting the fish with my trout rod. *I really thought the line was going to break but thanks to my wife's help with manuvering the boat and some patience it worked out well.

I was amazed that the larger fish eat like the smaller ones. *Now I know that no matter what you never know what size of fish is biting at the other end of the line. *

This weekend I caught about a 3lb striper and that fish just bit and took my rod down. *I was saying oh here we go again but realized quickly that it wasn't hugh. *Still a good fight with the same rod but got that one in quickly. *

Kudos to your wife hauling the anchor and running the boat and net!

Wish my wife would do that....

Nice fish great job. I got a 5 pound cat on my daughters barbie pole and it was one of my best fights so that must have been great. ;)

Oh and there is no way that dude is 6' 3" :P

They make Barbie poles :o. I gotta get my daughter one. If that guy really is 6' 3" that would make the fish about 60-63"! Is that possible? Who knows maybe in the East Coast.

Good job on the 6 pound test line catch. Not sure what the record is on light line, might want to check. As for the huge striper, that is pretty big, I looked at the picture a few times and failed to notice the second monster behind the guy on the top. Did everone catch that one?

Good observation fish hunter. I would think that most are trying to determine whether or not that guy is 6'3". I definitely have my doubts. ::)

I think when they enlarged the striper pix using Photoshop they forgot the guy. ;D Still humongous though ;)

Congrats trmpb, that's huge for a 6lb line. must be quite a struggle. :o

Me too, Mr T. We frequently camp 1.5 miles from the launch ramp & the wife can't even drive the boat back to the camp site or the camper either back to the camp site. So I have to walk it. She won't do that either, I have to walk it alone. Maybe at this point, that's a good thing? ???

I think my daughter has out grown it so If we meet up again it is yours. IF we plan it and I bring it. It might need some new line but she could cast it at age 3. Now i got her some bigger ones. ;) Sometimes I like to fish with it. ::)
