I'll be out on the opener. I'll be near Ione on the opener. I shot a bird in the fall so hopefully the luck will continue.

I hunt 4.5 hours away in mendicino county, so i don't have time to scout although we have a few spots that we are starting to dial in as "tried and true". Usually opening morning consists of alot of driving around trying to get a bird to respond and when is in the low 30's that can make it down right depressing. by the 2nd weekend it's alot easier to locate the toms. Good Luck to all ya'lls

Question: Are any of you running the Dave Smith turkey decoys this year?

The last few I shot were with my bow, its a great feeling!! Here are a few pics from my fall hunting. I usually hunt solo so no pics of me with my birds but I got the before pics. The last pic is of a jake that actually landed on the hood of my truck before I got out to look over a group. He's lucky I dont shoot jakes, only toms.

So far I've put in three days (half days at least) working a big gobbler running with a bunch of hens....Can't call him away from his girlfriends, but it is just a matter of time before we have a close encounter.....Saw him this morning again...I've got a good idea of where he roosts, so this afternoon I'm heading out to hunt from 2 to 4 in hopes of ambushing him....We'll see....Cal

I arrowed a nice tom 7 in. beard last saturday. It was not a planned hunt but I took my bow anyways. I was putting up some new fence for a guy and the group of turkeys walked about 15 yards from me. They were heading towards the truck so I got in front of them and about 100 yard walk later I arrowed him from about 30+ yards. That has been my only chance to get up there for the past few weeks.

Were winding down so you had better get after them!!
