11-17-2005, 03:32 PM
Sounds like a bunch of fun. I need a change up from all this Salmon fishing I've been doing. Plus I'll have a chance to use up some of thie Roe I have in the Frig!!
Maybe see some of you fellow sniffers out there?

11-18-2005, 01:07 AM
Is this gonna be a catch and keep or catch and release or what? I would like to see a catch and release contest, the only reason being is that it would be difficult for me to see so many sturgeon pulled in one derby. If it's possible to weigh-in and measure and keep the fish alive, maybe kind of like the Monster Shark Tournaments, that would be awesome. Keep the fish alive, weigh them in, and release at Dockside. As long as they are officially weighed, I see no real issue with a C&R contest.

11-18-2005, 08:38 AM
oh ,god i guess it's time to catch the flu again....
i'm in.... cough, cough, cough :'(

11-22-2005, 06:23 AM
8)The flyer is done finally, I will post it later today. The target lenth is 55-72 to weigh in and goes on a bump system. You must pay at dockside or call and pay over the phone. At the same time you might wanna reserve bait.It is a 3 day tourney 2-4. It is a striper sturgeon derby. Cash payout for both categories, plus prizes. So you must catch a sturgy 55 -72 to get a ticket for drawing and at the end they draw the winner and prizes. You can do what you want with your fish release or keep. C&R is not mandatory. 8)

11-22-2005, 10:22 AM
Hey Killer when we gonna hook up and get you that roe?
I'll be out with 3 clients tomorrow, give me a call if you will be around

11-22-2005, 11:54 PM

11-23-2005, 04:05 PM

11-26-2005, 09:16 AM
Call Dockside and prepay. Then pick up your ticket the morning of the event. It says you can reserve.

12-02-2005, 02:25 AM
8)Sound scared there sturgeon Stomper thats 2 derbys in a row. After sayin IM in sounds good .That is cool see ya..

12-02-2005, 02:41 AM
I just dont think this was a good weekend for the derby. Lots of people are just now getting hit with Christmas business. It probably should have been mid-December or possibly early January, since lots of people have that time off, I got tons of time in January cuz peak season is over at the job, and school is more lax. I can afford to take a few more Fridays off every few months since I got direct deposit now. ;D ;D ;D ;D

12-02-2005, 06:58 AM
8)Want cheese to go with that whine there young gun. Go back read your first post about the derby i.e. guys wanna go with the same set up, can it be catch and release. No bait shop is going to reschedule the dates for anyone, although the time to get a ticket to enter was changed here it was so people would have a chance once they see good weather friday and saturday. So to complain about it at 2;41 am in the morning of the start of the derby shows alot. All I got to say is step off dont wanna here the complaining and any other b.s. you had time to plan and make arraingements.Have fun at the flowtilla young gun. It's time to go fishing see ya.........................

12-05-2005, 07:19 AM
So wheres the reports guys. Some one had to catch something huh..Maybe crabs ;D

12-05-2005, 09:14 AM
What SS said,, wheres the dirt guys ? how did everyone do??

12-05-2005, 09:41 AM
fishkiller and I had 4 people total between us and all 4 ended up with cash or prizes. After the day I met up with Killer and we took off with Mr. Pescador and had a great nite. Mr. P. landed another 63 inch fattie, and killer and I kept hooking into keepers but not the 55"er or above. Between our 2 boats we landed 19 fish in 2 days.
One hell of a trip. We also ate well costco sized rib eyes for dinner then the killer made pancakes and eggs with halapeno and cream cheese begals. :o We keep fishing together we gonna get fat ;)

12-05-2005, 10:00 AM
Sounds like you two had a great time. Lots of fish :o, that is awesome ;). Hope the fish are hungry around Dec. 16-18 )flotilla)like they were fore you this weekend. Thanks for the report.

12-05-2005, 01:45 PM
We boated seven fish off my boat ranging from 24" - 81". I caught three keepers at 61, 53, & 48. Donzi caught a fat 54 1/2" fish which we just couldn't stretch to the 55" required for the derby and an absolute monster 81" fish which could have topped 150lbs. We lost one other real good fish that freight trained us straight into the anchor line. All in all, it was a great fishing weekend; good company, good beer and most importantly good fishing. I'll post up some pics later tonight or tomorrow.

12-05-2005, 04:09 PM
So wheres the reports guys. Some one had to catch something huh..Maybe crabs ;D
Man, I just couldn't catch anything worth keeping.. >:( I should have kept the 54+ but it wasn't a derby fish, and that would have put us at the limit, as Bassassin already had his 61.. oh, and the 81" OVERSIZE had to go back in the water. At least someone in our boat got into the prizes! I guess an oversize to the boat is better than sturgie on the table.. this time anyways.. it was my first BIG ONE. Next time I'm keepin the 54!

12-05-2005, 04:12 PM
By the chart, an 81" fish goes 159# and 31.5 years on the average! Dang that fish was almost as old as me!

12-05-2005, 05:19 PM
Nice Dante. Isnt it a rush pulling one of those suckers upto the side of the boat just to see the size of it ;) I hope you guys got pics of him ;)

12-05-2005, 07:10 PM
8)Another great event with reliable good friends fishin and slayin dinos . The next one couple weeks out Now that were all warmed up cash in hand new poles new fillet knives, let's keep it on a role into the next one. Can't wait to see them crab pics HA HA HA *8) tThat 81 was pushin 175 lbs. and the dirt as you call it , my boat chris's boat and jason's boat put 26 sturgys on the deck with on3 being underlegal but very close, there were no undersize from my boat .As me chris said some guys would cried see them dinos go back54 1/2 54 3/4 54 53 52 51 49 1/2 all fat and anyone would of taken one home but back they went to fight on for a fifty five. And I got Mr> Pescador to the scale on sunday with one minute to spare now thats time management. 8)

12-05-2005, 07:20 PM
Well what can I say ...another trip out with Fishkiller and another sturgeon! a tad over 55" but good enough for an entry in the derby! It was a fantastic trip ...congrats to everyone !! Great fishing ..great people... and good food of course!! I just wish I could have been around for the Steak dinner and Pancake breakfast .... I can smell the sausages already!! lol

I also wish I could have seen that 81" though..I cant wait til I get my first oversized one!!! Congrats!!

I had a great time!

Cant wait til the next one!

12-05-2005, 07:29 PM

Pics are coming soon!

Bassassin, as usual, thanks for the ride! Not a bad weekend! Good beer, better company, and even better fishing! One of these trips I'm gonna put a keeper on the boat to stay! All in all, another GREAT one!

12-05-2005, 08:20 PM
One other thing to mention that I thought was really cool.. About 1/3 of the way into the fight on the 81, about 30 feet from the boat my line starts to rise and I see this HUGE white flash come leaping out of the water. It cleared head and tail in a big arch and made a monster splash! AWESOME is all I can say bout that! DANG!

12-05-2005, 08:25 PM
Right on ;)

12-05-2005, 08:34 PM
