Currently:

Brand: Ugly Stick
Model: Tiger
Length: 7'
Action: ML 12-30lb
Reel: Penn 320GTI
Line weight: 65lb Power Pro

A few notes though; I'm not 100% sold on the Penn 320. Strong as an Ox, but it is a little big for my liking. I'll likely be replacing it with something like the TR 200 Killer and SS run. I also have had my fill with the braid. Next time I respool I'll be switching back to 30lb PLine C-XXX in flourescent green.

seeker?
i used a seeker black steel rod with no luck,i felt maybe it was to stiff at the tip so i switch to my ugly tiger cause the tip was a lil softer so i could notice the bites.i really liked the black steel and would have loved to feel a sturgeon on the end of it.does the seeker you use have a softer tip than the black steel series?my calcutta 7000 looked awesome on the seeker=(

for line i like braid...tuff line, berkley wiplash80-100pound,but i mostly bank fish so i switched to 40 pound big game mono.snapped to many lines on braid casting 10 -16 ounce weights=(

I guess that questions was for me? I think I'm the only one who listed a Seeker. Mine is an American series and has a nice soft tip. I don't bank/pier fish as much now that I have a boat but I chucked up to 20oz sinkers. On a softer tippped rod you just need to be a little gentler casting. :P The Cal Star has a more stiff tip but using that on a balance beam doesn't seem to make that much of a factor.

Mjonesjr,
Iíve been using a heavier rod as well (15 to 40). With a balance I donít think you even need the soft tip and the heavier rod is sure nice when it comes to reeling in a big one.

Completly agree, a fixed position is different. ;)

Primary set-up ;
Seeker American 15-40 7' rod , Shimano TLD 15 loaded with Gig Game 30 lb line
Been trying out a Penn 545 in place of the TLD 15 lately , real nice reel but the TLD is still my go to reel .

Secondary set-up ;
Fenwick Pacificstick 12-30 7' rod , Shimano TLD 5 loaded with either Gig Game or P-Line in 17-20 lb. line
Could easily use this rod as far as drag/power goes as I fish a lighter drag than most , like the heavier rod when I had to use weights heavier tha 3-4 oz.

I like them e-glass rods , have used graphite and don't care for them at all . I don't use a balanceing beam as I hold my pole 99% of the time , have hooked fish that don't even move the tip , just feel a difference in line humm and let um have it !

Whats your favorite rod/reel combo?

Currently I am running a Fenwick Techna AV 7' extra light 10-25 lb with a shimano Charter special reel. Although the rod is called extra light it has plenty of backbone when laying into the fish and I really like the light tip. I run 50lb spiderwire, and am really happy with the combo, I really like having a lever drag level wind reel. Hopefully I can put it through some more paces this year.
