well...I finally started the motor ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

sounds great!!!!!
in and out of gear just to smooth
idles at 800rpm and i have not even tried to mess with it
(i like to idle at 600-800 rpm for trolling)
next day off is test run...rain or shine
then back to the house for a quicky oil change and bottom end check
after that its out to the barn for the rest of the gear and then bodega bound!!!!!
i feel like a little kid with the bestest birthday present ever :D :D :D
right now it would take an awfull lot to knock this smile off my face ;D ;D ;D

uh oh!!!!
forgot the bottom paint...
looks like i will need at least one day of sunshine or ...boat to the barn
either way i win :D :D :D

tsl - i'd think twice about going out friday - monster swell building. or are you staying in the harbor? thursday morning should still be okay. (this morning was perfect - no wind or swell. saw some boats headed out of the gate at 7:30 - wanted to be there)

thank you for the concern
i have no intention of going out in the salt on an untested motor
hence bodega the 18th
my test run will be done in a fresh water lake near my home...camp far west
my son wants to bring some of his buddies for an all night catfish trip
i dont care what they do as long as they dont wake me up ;D
i will put a good 10 hrs run time between letting the kids drive the boat and some at trolling speed
i want enough hours to justify an early oil change
we have a new motor in the jet sled and my dad wants to bring ut out for a test run also
so we will have our buddy system going
i am sure he will run that boat for a couple of hours but by that time i will know if my boat will be ok
and if all else fails we can always go get the 16' sea swirl to drag us both in ::)

on that lake i am a "GIANT" boat
on the ocean i am not even a "jumbo"
;) ;) ;)

well i should be out at the lake right now
the boat is ready, but the kids cant go till tommorro
some kind of function to night
aw well
i wasted water yesterday watching it run down the gutter for 2 hours
i intend to do it again today (i hate water meters)
motor sounds great and having all the drive by want to goes ...but will probably never get the guts up
and then all those that like to hang out on sunday afternoons waiting to see what i bring home so they can stick their hands out
actually i dont mind these people they use what they are given
not just a gift fish that ends up freezer burnt and in the dump

well back out to the boat...a final bilge rinse is probably in order
and then a altenator belt tighting...looks like it may have stretched a little
now if i would give my desk that much attention... man what a mess

aw well.. it can wait a man must set his priorities

i expect 14and older boys to be able to pack an ice chest
aw well we will be leaving soon
supposed to snow almost to the valley floor wonder if we will wake up and need vessel assist to help us out of the ice ;)
if thats all we need vessell assist for i will be pleased ;D
even though this is the salt board i will report how we survived the snow on camp far west lake ::)

well cr*p

home already
just a minor problem that will be fixed in the morning
maybe back out for a while after that

motor ran fine but would not throttle up all the way
reached down and grabbed the throttle at the carb and away we went
strangest thing happened then....
this edelbrock intake manifold has some sort of inspection plate on it
not quite sure what it is for
any ways it was a frabricated piece of 1/8" steel and it looked like it was jb welded on
i didnt pay much antention to it before but when it left the intake manifold leaving a gaping hole i knew i was in trouble
aw well
i wanted to put the dual plane edelbrock manifold with the 600cfm edelbrock carb on it any way
everything else seems good to go
i will pull a compression test on the motor before i pull the intake off
just to make sure there is no internal problems
if there is i have a 305 i can drop in

sometimes you are the windshield and sometimes you are the bug

it was the cover for the egr
already fixed and running again
i guess another test run will be in order very soon
;D
i am kinda of just in limbo with all this cr*p of salmon season
do i head for the gay bay for a good dose of mercury?
or
do i head for bodega and play with the crabs and look for some deep flat fish?

tsl are you targeting barndoors,or flyswatters? pacifics don't open up till may 1. I'm thinking it's still too early for the california halibut. :(
