Going to launch at Berkeley this weekend for the first time.Looking for help as far as a please to pitch a tent somewhere close.I hear the bite is on at the Marin coast,is that just out side the gate to the north? Is this the best place to launch for what I want to do? Thanks

I'd pull into the Berkeley launch parking lot and sleep in your boat. I don't know about a tent place but remember you're in the bay area and there are weirdos everywhere. Protect yourself and your gear at all times.

Being one of those “new to boating people” who like to think about being prepared ahead of time.

I would like to see a class say at FW or of a post of ideas on the subject of Protection of ones self and gear in different situations others have been put in.

that's a good idea. Johnnie, the salmon are biting off the marin coast. if you wonder where to go just follow the fleet.
