I have only fished for salmon once before on a party boat and I thought I might give California City a try this monday. Can anybody steer me in the right direction with what to do? How do you locate fish? Am I looking for a certain depth. I just picked up a FBR and I guess I should pick up a flasher. I have a downrigger on my boat. I have a feeling this is going to be a learning experience. Thanks.

#1-- Fish the incoming tide from the bottom to the top if possible.
#2Try different depths 15-40 pulls always worked for me with a 2 lb ball.
Downriggers may want to vary depths but I found that closer to bottom 2-4 ft to be the most productive for me.
FBR's, RSK's, Croc's,Straight bait on a wire, cable or hoochie, Flashers/ Dodgers Try em all You can't catch them sitting home and wishin.
#3 Go try to "Whack Em".
#4 All----Important
Luck
Good Luck at that!!!

I might give it a try this Sunday by myself since it's close by. The temps at the Delta is still too hot and there's way too many skiiers and personal watercraft out there.
