I went out to try this new spot today (7-29) in Marin County. *I got there by 6:30am and walked the 30-40 mins to get to the spot. *Once there, I threw some squid on my hooks and casted out. *Immediately I hooked up with a nice 15 inch grass rockfish. *After my next 7 or 8 casts I didn't hook up at all but instead lost 5 rigs to snags. *Then, at around 9:30 I decided to try some anchovies as bait. *After a long wait, I hook up with what seems to be a pretty small fish as I am reeling in, but once it gets right next to shore it gets pissed and takes off. *After another few minutes I am able to land it and it turns out to be a nice 26in, 5lb 9oz ling. *I fish for another hour or so and leave after losing some more tackle. *

I have gotten skunked so far this year fishing rocks. How are you setting up your rigs, and how are you fishing them?

Nice job there RockRob. 8-) I am going to find a honey hole one of these days soon and this just gave me the incentive to do it. I am in need of a PFD before I go a treking but man that looks like fun.

No, its not, but I would like to try that area. *Are there places to park around slide ranch area? *I always thought that was private property.

Slide ranch is open to the public; yup there's parking and on a good low there's great fishing. If you're up for great rock fishing try T.V beach, a brutal hike, but almost untouched fishing.
