My buddy Jpangie707 and I went out fishing yesterday. Thanks to some good sniffers who gave us much needed info, we had one of the best fishing trips in a looooong time =) Thanks!!

We headed out from Vallejo up to Bolinas at 4:30 am. We fished one part of the lagoon close to town and my buddy hooked up a 30+" sand shark (spinney dogfish) with an anchovies. I used squid and had no bites. After an hour or so we packed up to fish another part of the lagoon further from the town side (south side of the lagoon, I think ) for the morning incoming tide.. After sitting at a road block for almost an hour just outside of town on the hwy, (motorist flips his car into the mud of the lagoon) we get to a nice spot and set up.. I finally get my first hook up! This Ray peels off on a big run! He would stop for a bit and he ruuuun's again. did this about 7 or 8 times. I think he took almost 200+ yards total of some 65lb braided line. finally get em in to about 10 yards of shore (he was a beast!!) and then spits the hook out >:( I think I even heard him laugh and call me a "Chump".. at least that's what I'm told the ray said by my buddy [smiley=hitfish.gif]

After that and the traffic hold up the tide started back out so we packed up. Left Bolinas but had a great time. The drive up was nice, say many many deer and the fishing was good. Could have been better if we weren't held up by the road block :-/

But then!!!!! then we headed to Sausalito.. Set up there and fishing we we did... We hooked up with a total of 4 Ray's, 3 of em were in the30 to 60lbs range.. fun fighters too... Targeting rays is new to us so it was a blast when we would just here the clickers start to scream when they hit and peeled line like a train!!! The 4th one was the one my buddy hooked up with and he was a beast!!! Huge, we could not pull em all the way out of the water on shore,, he was flapping so much and was so massive, he straightened out a 7/0 Owner Khale Hook!!!! I'm 6'1" and he was just a few inches shy of my arm span!!! What we found to work best was a e-chip on a Owner hook, we made our steal leaders about 20 inches long with a 1/0 oz egg slider weight on the leader and on the main line a slider with a 8oz torpedo weight. On the hook we put 1 whole anchovies and 1 whole squid together.. This combo was so deadly... I also hooked up 3 Sand Sharks and 3 nice leopards up to about 40" I think.. All were release to fight another day!!!

My buddy and I fish the delta for Dino's mostly and some stripe's but we have some new gear that we wanted to push to the limits and rip some lips and we sure did that yesterday!!! ;D :D BUT LET ME ADD, THOSE RAYS ALSO"'RIP SOME ARMS"!!! :o

We had a blast!!! We will be going out again after we recover.. the arms are a little sore and the smiles are still on our faces 8-)

So again thanks for all the info from the fellow sniffers and we'll be at it again soon..

I was at Bolinas also and that Kid who flipped his purple honda was obviously thinking he was fast and furious but he had a carload of folks too from what I can tell. I was right around the corner with my father fishing. Right as we walked up I spoted a ray about 30# feeding right next to the shore. I knew right then it was going to be a fun day. I got two leopards and one unbuttoned just before the shore too. Were you guys the ones out on the point? about a half mile down I spoted some guys. Anyhow sounds like you guys had a great time, thanks for the report.....Tight lines

Drinkin Buddy.

How did you rig the e-chips? I had thought about trying to do that but the only ones I've seen are the ones in the rotochip bait holders. Those are just a little cylinder. Thanks

Hey Drinkin Buddy, Yeah that was us fishing @ the point in front of the GMC p/u. The driver who wrecked the car was fishing next to us w/that group of guys, I dont know bout you but I love fishin and all but if I wrecked like, that Id be @ the hospital w/my friend who was riding shotgun. I guess thats HARDCORE huh?? Yeah when we pulled up to the accident we got out the truck and right away I spotted a shark feeding in the shallows. Hey Fish-or-die we actually buy our E-chips separately and use shrink tubes to bond'em to the top shank of our hooks. Actually D-day hooked most of the rays and sharks that day he was the one using the E-chip. PIXX TO COME!!!

Hey Fish or Die, Like my friend said, we buy em separate and attach em to the hook our self with a shrink tube... Just my thought, when attaching, dont use the flame of a lighter directly on the shrink tube. it discolors it and might add a foul odor too... not sure but i dont wanna take chances. i use a heat gun or if my lighter is all thats avail, i put it close but not directly on it. We put em on the shank right near the top of the eye.. ;)

Hey drinkin buddy,, my hats off to you!!! The info u shared with me in the past was right on and ur right, Bolinas is a great place to fish, Just wish I woulda had more time but I WILL be back ;D and the cold ones are on me!!!! We shoud set up a day of fishin [smiley=party.gif]
