Guess not.
I'll probably wait till February to give it a shot. Unless I hear otherwise

Hey Tarbuckle...I've caught boat loads of perch out behind the PG&E plant and only ONE was a red tail. And a nice one at that. Too bad I dropped it in the rocks >:(. Any way, are the red tail abundant up there or few & far between? Or am I just in the wrong spot for them? Just taking notes for when I'm up next time.

Keep trying the PG&E plant. You'll get em. It's just a matter of being their at the right time. Late February early March is your best chance for the red tails.
Behind Target can be productive, also the mouth of the Mad and Elk River.

I usually start this conversation early to see if there are any indicators...and you guys up on Humboldt bay are typically the first ;)

I used to fish the jetties as well......in the "school days".... :-*

anybody venturing out to shelter cove might find them too...there are some great rock shelves near the launching "spot".....good place to camp for the weekend too.
