Fishermunn and I fished Pyramid Saturday along with the fleet fishing the Presidents day Tournament

It was pretty amazing the number of boats on the water and the lines of guys fishing the shore on ladders. I've never seen so many people there but it was still pretty easy to launch and manageable to fish.

We picked up our permits at Crosby's about 8AM, beat the line up at the ramp by a few minutes, had Fishermunn's North River in the water by 8:30 and headed directly North.

I picked up the money fish and one of our nicer fish for the day on our first pass right off the point** 8-)

We stayed between Spider and Warrior point all day for a steady pick and ended up with 16 fish for the day. No big ones but all nice quality fish.

3 of our 16 were very nice fish, right at the 24" mark with beautiful colors.

We found a pretty good pattern where the fish seemed to be holding and It got a little crowded and tough to fish as other boats seemed to figure out the area we kept coming back too. We were often flirting with the rocks off the point* and I lost the Frog Tomic that was the hot lure until it was gone** >:(

Fishermunn scores a Pyramid beauty

Fishermunn did pretty well with Ken's Custom Tackle Double Flutter Spoons

I liked the reflection of the Double Flutter on the water in this shot

We caught most of our fish in less than 70' of water and 30' seemed to be the most productive

Water was flat calm all day and the Sun was out most of the time.* Ken didn't need to wear his Camo Duffel Bag and much to his delite I was soon stripping off my under armor and was down to a T shirt at times.

Very nice day on the water with some pretty decent action.

Thanks for the ride Ken

Good Stuff* ;)

What do you mean by "ladders".

Fisherman carry 6-8' ladders into the water and sit on top of them and fish. Many have fishing seats mounted on top of A frame. Pretty cool to see.

This years derby was quite smaller than years past. Typically there are over 400 entry's. This year I don't think they made the 300 mark. I did not catch one large enough to put on the board. C&R allot of nice fat hens in the 20-21" along with some nice red males. All in all a good Derby. Most caught in 30-40' of water pulling lymans.

Hey Durb thank you for the feed back. I had to see it to believe it. Every day I learn something new. If I go here can I do well from shore or do I need wadders or a ladder and what is the benefit of the ladder's?

Ever try and cast when you are chest deep in water? Walk out to chest deep, climb on a ladder & cast away. :D
