Met up with Ken and Josh at 5 am in Auburn to head over the hill for a little cutthroat action. The ranger was at the ramp checking permits and in short order we were headed over to our spot on the east side. Lines went in and Ken starts the day with a fine fish fooled by a 4 inch “lady bug” Draggin(red w/black dots) .He also got the next one on the same lure good start!. We worked the same area for a while for a few more hook ups of slot fish and worked in front of the Pyramid. We didn’t get a strike around the Pyramid so we went back to the “hot spot”. After a few more slot fish we thought we would try Anderson for some shallow fishing slower with flatfish we thought we would head in shallow and back out draggin the bottom every once and awhile. As we were giving that a go we saw Lundshark and his son Chance fishing the edge of the drop off and had hooked a few. We didn’t get any takers. We ended going back to the “hole “ and finished up our limit of slots .When we checked the stringer we found we had a Houdini for one fish was missing from the stringer! And the hook was closed. Well we took the 5 slots home for some dinners and a canning session and we also released 4 more (not including Houdini) 9 fish for the day. An assortment of Draggins were used Ladybug, glow yellow, white laderback, frog. The fish were caught at 40’ OTW and we didn’t get any hits on the top line with a 1 oz weight Water temp was 45. Weather was the best we have had there yet this season for us, the ride over and back was as great water was as smooth as glass. We didn’t get our 10 lb this trip so we’ll have to go back and give it another go. Back to my truck in Auburn at 9:30 pm and headed for home.

A BIG thanks to my good friends Ken and Josh for taking me over the hill and letting me spend the day with them some great friends there.

I've never fished Pyramid but I have been told by many who have that Pyramid cutthroat are very poor eating ... soft ... mushy flesh... great size ... great catch and release lake but not a gormet procurement option ..... is this accurate?

Its always a pleasure fishing with you guys. Couldn't ask for better conditions. I was going to give it a shot again this week but the wind looks pretty bad.

Ironnoggin, i've prepared pyramid cutts about every different way and love the way they taste.
great table fare IMO.

It was a good day. I had a blast guys. Man what a day. I will tell you that is one long day after it is all said & done but fishing with GVF & SJ make it worth the trip.

IronNoggin. I have eaten Pyramid cutts before & they taste good to me. I have never smoked & canned it before so we will see how that goes. It is headed there tommorrow.

Thanks again for the great trip guys. I am really starting to like that lake. Too bad its so far.
