Red Lake X 2 (Pics)

[Captain Compassion]

Fished at Red Lake on Monday and Tuesday. The weather, company and fishing was excellent both days.

09/21/09- Arrived at Red Lake with Mrs. Compassion at 1000 hours. Fished the dam with Kastmasters, plastics and green Gulp. We fished until 11:30 and caught 5 lovely brooks. I managed to hook and lose an nice cutt. Afterword we stopped at the Deli in Markleeville for a nice lunch.

09/22/09- Arrived at Red Lake with Jetspray at 0700 hours and fished the dam. We fished with the usual assortment of stuff and managed 10 healthy brooks. The water is beginning to get green scum on the surface and the brookies are moving and getting dressed in their fall colors. We left shortly before 1000 when others started showing up and went to the E. Carson. We tried several spots there with no luck. Wonderful days both.

Got to love those red lake brookies. Thanks for the fishing tips on tuesdays. My dad and I managed to land 16 brookies and one cuttroat. Released all except two brookies which became dinner.

Hey Capt...it's interesting to see the fish from Red vs the ones from a week ago at Virginia...the ones I was catching there were colored up pretty good. Lot's of orange. Maybe the higher elevation fish color up sooner??

Correct Mike. Those fish up at Virginia are a few weeks further along then the Red Brookies. Full color will come around the end of October.
