Hiked up to the first lake above Virginia on Sat.* Wind kicked up and made it tough.* Here's a pic of the first brookie for my daughter.* Only caught 3.* Missed a couple and had some followers.* Overall tough day.* We released 2 that were lip hooked and kept one due to bleeding.

Daughter practicing.* She needs lots of room

This is the portable dog house which actually came in pretty handy.* I felt like climbing in there with my daughter.

On Sunday we fished Tioga Lake.* Ellery was drained.* Heard it was due to repair of the dam.* Lake really isn't that deep at all.* It looked like there were dikes built all over the lake.* Anyways, we found a good looking spot at Tioga and didn't take long before we had our first fish.* We were done with limits by 12:30.* Could have been done earlier but we let a couple go.* Daughter caught one all by herself.* Had her real in one of the rods with a crawler on it and she said a fish was following it.* So told her to put it back in and next thing she says is "fish on".* Since it was lip hooked I shook it off.* Pretty funny.* Was surprised that almost all the fish either had eggs or milt.* Didn't think stockers could spawn.* Nice day at the lake.* Some wind but nothing like the day before.

Excellent day. The smile on your little girl's face tells the story. Nice pictures of a beautiful place.

Hello NRJohn,

My family & I fished Little V, Virginia & Trumbull the last 2 weeks of Aug. The fishing was terrible but the sceneray was beautiful as usual. Say, did you go to Red or Blue Lake?
When we were there in Aug, there were signs posted that said "Bears are Active". Did you guys see any of those critters on your hike?

I was also at Virginia Lakes on the weekend of 9/12. Did ok for pan sized bows. Beautiful colors on those fish!
Hiked up to Blue for pictures. Can't beat the scenary. Our family owned a cabin for many years down near the pack station.

Holy Moly....we were all in the same flipping place at the same time... ;D

You gotta love it over there...and your pics remind me so much of fishing with my girls. I used to take them to Rock Creek Lake and walk up the trail a mile or so for brookies back in the day...

GREAT REPORT!!

I believe that was Blue Lake. Was surprised we were the only ones fishing. Loads of people at Virginia and saw far amount of hikers walking past but no one stopped to fish. Oh and lots of weeds in the lake. Should have stayed at the first place we fished (caught 2 in less than an hour) but it was straight into the wind but no weeds.

Love it up there. May go back one more trip before the season closes. Although I'm starting to like Shaver more. It's closer (only 5 hours) and it's easier fishing from the boat than shore with the dog. That dog just loves to go fishing! ;D

yeah ... looks like we were all in the same place at about the same time. Say, did anyone try fishing Virginia Creek? This is on the road from 395 to V. Lakes. I believe there's a campground down there. It's close to the Pack Station.

When we were there we watched DFG dump about 6-8 baskets of fish into Big V. Not much for such a big lake.

We looked at the creek while checking out the dispersed camping areas down there. Looked a little low and we were doing well in all the lakes so we passed it up. Pretty little creek and I'm sure there are fish, though. Every trickle on that side of the mtns holds fish. -m
