Brief trip to Red, West Carson and ICR.

The dam area at Red is still packed with schools of minnows or all types and sizes. Didn't see any brookies. Did hook a large LCT right on the shore with a tube jig. It came off the hook after about a minute. :( The fish are full from the easy pickings. Checked the W. Carson at Hope Valley and the 89 Bridge. There are a few small planters and a few larger Donaldson's bows at both locations. Not inerested in hitting. ICR is low, warm and weedy. Need some colder weather here. 1 to 1 1/2 months until this place is ready. The weather in the area was warm with light winds. Both Mrs. C and I ended up skunked for the day but it was nice.

CC - Thanks for report even tho it wasn't one of your usual successes. ALWAYS do like your photos!

I got the itch to get back up there. Think I'll try Silver Lake this time for some trout (I hope!) and scenic photo ops.

I had a couple nice LCT (16-18 inches) that got off once they saw the canoe...finally realized I was using a jig with a barbless hook.* I hooked up each time I drifted over a hole...of course after I changed hooks I didn't get any more hits.

Mark, are you going to take your yak to Silver Lake? I just bought another Hobie for my son, an Outback. I fish out of a Pro Angler.....my poor Gregor has not been wet for some time now.

No I think I'll just try banking it ... if the water is not too far from the tree line. Humm I wonder what the level's like at Silver Lake now. Anyone know?

silver lake is about 5 ft down. It doesnt seem to have put a damper on the fishing though. I banked it off the island at the far end of the lake and still managed to C&R 3-4 nice trout every morning. It was a mixture of browns, rainbows, and cutbows.
