Hello All,

Went to Sly Park for some trout fishing with no luck and we tried everything you could think of.Im glad I didnt take the boat because the wind came up and blew most boats off the lake.

Before we left we hit a little pond called Forebay and missed a couple but my wife caught a nice little rainbow :).While we were their we seen a few fish roll and a few caught.

All and all a great day out with the family. :) :)

Forebay is a little lake in Pollock Pines. Find Safeway... you cant miss it, right across Pony Express is Forebay Road. Go down that about 1/2 a mile and BAM... there's a little lake, right there. Known as El Dorado Forebay on the F/G website.

Found this in an article:
"Staff reported that the California Department of Fish and Game is recommending that Echo Lake and Forebay Reservoir be removed from the list of waters that the department will not stock with fish in 2009. Dan Corcoran, the Districtís environmental division manager, reported that Fish and Game officials agreed to the recommendation after the District provided Fish and Game with additional biological survey information indicating Echo Lake and Forebay are not suitable habitat for the mountain yellow-legged frog and California red-legged frog, respectively."

Keep an eye here for plants:

Funny, it was planted the last week of March... *:D

And its listed on the left side of the chart that says it will be stocked:

Looks like Sly Park, Icehouse, Stumpy and the South Fork have all been cut... According to this chart... >:(

On Saturday we hit up Forebay and it looked to be slow. We Sat on the shore for 2 hours with out a bite. Got caught up on alot of weeds. Then at about noon we moved down shore maybe 100 yards and within 10 min. Bam Fish On. We had a hot streak from 12-2:15 for a total of 8 fish. Biggest at 15 inches 1 3/4LB. Nice Day After all. Didn;t see anyone else catching any fish. Sunday thought about going back but instead went to JK for a BBQ and ended up with nothing. I will be back..

Stayed the weekend at Jenkins. Great weekend, but I do not think I will be camping there again anytime soon. The prices went up again, like last years prices were not high enough.
For us camping in a regular spot (not a deluxe spot) in tents for 2 nights we paid over $75... and we short changed them by $20 at the iron ranger. Figured that was enough for a patch of dirt with a table and fire ring and to be able to launch our canoe, I did not have anymore money regardless.

In any case, to the fishing...

Fished each morning and evening we were there, got one on the last morning. Glad he sacrificed himself to get the skunk off. Whew.
Was a bow, got'em on flashers w/ humdinger.
Water was 53 to 55 degrees. Marked lots of fish in there. Just the one taker.
I guess you need to pay for the fish too.

Mtn bike riding was more productive than the fishing. Buddy of mine fell and caught a bunch of bruises, scrapes and a broken helmet. At least he did not go home empty handed.

Tight lines.
