Taking vacation late august and going to try to catch my first brown . Wondering if any sniffers out there that fish this lake could give me some trolling tips on how to catch them that time of year . Will about hitting almanor then eagle that same week. Should be fun!!

You've got a couple issues with Almanor at that time of year. Almanor is a very shallow lake for the most part and the water temps go up quite a bit by late summer. And with that, it becomes a pleasure craft lake, lots of water fleas making wakes. If you are in that area, some shore fishing down at Butt Lake (4 miles from Almanor) would be a better bet down by the powerhouse.

I agree with superdave! the lake gets hammered by water lice and the browns grow wary! ;)
