As I headed up the hill, I stopped at Pinecrest to see what it looked like. The docks are floating and the water was clear of ice. So if you are thinking about Pinecrest, Go For It !! Of corse, after this storm is clear, *should be around 6-12" of snow tonight.

Went down to Beardsley which is the second time out with the pontoon and electric motor. In short, 5 to net, 4 Browns and 1 small bow, and many missed hits. Trolling with a sink flyline, with a wigglefin and a small white clouser.

Made it up the river and back & most fish was caught out in the middle of the lake.

As I was comming out of the river canyon I saw a couple of guys that seem like they were having trouble in their boat. As I got closer I couldn't believe what I was seeing. They were hiking around the lake and wanted to cross to the other side. So they made a raft out of logs in the water and were paddling across. (Or trying to paddle across against the wind). So I tied a line to the back of the toon and handed them the other end and pulled them across. I told them they reminded me of "The survival man show" *;D

Afterwards I continued to fish till a thunder storm blew in. As soon as I heard the thunder I made a bee line out of the water. By the time I had the truck loaded up the Lightling was flashing within a 1/2 mile. A little scarry.

The lake from the dam

There were about 5 boats on the water when I got there.

This one boater was buzzing another. I hope they were friends or the one guy wasn't being too friendly!! "To put it nicely"

The river

It lightly rained off and on and was windy till the evening, then it calmed down, before the thunder storm blew in.

By the evening I had the water all to my self...

When I made it up to Hwy 108 I had to put it in 4WD.

In spite of the weather, I had a great time.

Great report and pics Slim. I wonder what the story was behind those two boats, the guys in the small boat don't look very amused. I keep lead shot putt material in my box just for in case of such an incident. >:(Those guys in the bigger boat could have flipped the smaller boat pretty easily.

Beautiful pictures, and great report as always Slim!
Man , those 2 guys in the boat, I'm wondering, id they nootice the size of those 3 guys in the other boat? wow...I hope they hung around and served up a little whup azz on 'em, cause they sure had it coming. If you could see the CF numbers on the boat, those photos might do some good.

Is it me, or are the browns really coming on this year?

I can't believe those guys in the raft...what are they crazy? *I don't think I would want to be on that lake on that raft when one of those thunder storms blow up and put 2 foot rollers on the lake. *Guess that kinda makes you the hero, Slim. *Great pics!

Last year and this year they open the gate back up when the road is clear, like they used to do !! When there's enough snow on the road they will close it !

Too far away to see the CF # .

I don't know for sure but I think they are planting Browns more, maybe because of the parasite that attaches on the bows ! (?) One year about 18 years ago they just planted Brookies because of that.

Awesome pics as usual. That's the first makeshift raft I've ever seen in a lake. Wow, what were they going to do if that thing fell apart in the middle of the lake? I'm surprised the water was up as high as it is, at both Pinecrest and Beardsley. Looks like you got out of there just in time!.

Dear Fisherman,
I am the Mother of the young man in the raft (the one in purple). I alway say a prayer for his safety when he heads up the road. Nice to know that God even works through Fisherman :)
I tell ya' if it is not extreme weather, hard work, or a high mountain, my son is not having a good time.
He came out of the womb a nature boy. His first steps as a toddler was in Yosemite National Park.
Of course once I know he is safe, I can't wait to hear about his adventures. This time it was getting a tow on a lake, and escaping a down pour. Mild to some of his adventures.
Bless you again for your kindness.

I sure hope they were friends. Either way not was a very dangerous thing those bozos did. *It would sure have been a shame if they got back to the ramp only to find they must have run over a sharp object on the way in and have a flat.... on all 6 of their tires. *;)

Hi Mom

It'll be intresting to hear some of their other adventures if that was a mild event. It wasn't the down pour that was to worry about. It was the lightning and being in the middle of the lake on a very slow raft!! :)
Glad I was there to help.

When I first got to the Dam I saw the 2 boats next to each other.

Then I saw that one guy began to tear up the water. Around and around the other boat he went, As if to ruin the other guy's fishing. So I stop to photograph it just in case it escaladed into a violent event! But fortunatly it didn't!
