View Full Version : Camanche March 10

I've been pretty much house bound caring for Wifey after foot surgery - but she's doing better so I headed to Camanche with my fishing buddy, John.

We didn't even take the downriggers, figuring the fish would be near the surface, and maybe we were right about that, but I wonder how we'd have done at 20 or 30 feet...

I managed one little 1 pounder on a frog pattern after several LDRs. John caught two one pounders later. We found most of the action around Hat Island. With our slow day, we had to come up with some kind of excuse, I figured, so we've decided to blame the full moon and clear nights for the slow fishing.

The little trout was the first fish aboard my new North River. I had hoped to make the cherry-popping event take place on the maiden voyage a month ago while sturgeon fishing - a sturgeon would have been super as the first - but I'm not complaining. Maybe just a little... *8-)

Hey Dale, nice chattin with you again. I remembered my downrigger clips this time. Here's a pic of the crappie I caught in the narrows on Sunday. Got a couple of trout that day too, but nothing to write home about. Ended up with only one bump on Tuesday. My first skunk in a while. Want to say hey to all the sniffers I talked to both days too. Can't remember all the names cause there were a bunch.
Check out the nose on this lure. Caught three fish on it and it cracked. (I did exchange it.)
Good luck everybody....DF30

Reel Fun: Check you PM's...

dogfish30: WOW!!! Been trolling Rapala's a long time. Never had that happen before. Glad you saw it before it went back in. You would have lost a really big fish on that.

Good job spilling the first blood in the new boat. It is all down hill from here.

Thanks for the nice comments, guys.

Reel_Lost, I have a black BayHawk. I saw the red one out there also, but that wasn't me.

Reel Fun, I bought a window mount am/fm antenna from Kragen. It has a 12v lead and amplifies the signal. It works very well. It also has a cable for grounding, but wasn't necessary to ground it. About $20. I also have XM wired to my am/fm radio, and that's what I listen to mostly.

dogfish30, good to see you out there again. Before we know it it'll be time to chase stripers on Hogan! I hope there's more water flowing into Hogan yet this year, but it's not looking too good.

Thanks again.
