All in all sounds like a decent day out on the water. I hope you weren't too far out there when your battery died, but hey at least you had a couple fish to show for your troubles...

We usually bring a back up battery for the canoe, if we're trolling all morning and into the afternoon it can spell r-o-w-i-n-g. Luckily, when we have rowed, the wind was at our backs. I say lucky because we rowed from the furthest point of Bass cove!

Chilii31 - where were you guys fishin and getting fish? Half moon bay...?

I didnt know you could take your own boat to Chabot......I thought it was only rentals?

02-10-2009, 05:55 PM
you can bring your own boat just no gas motors. and theres a size limit but Im not sure what it is.

cool, you learn something new everyday ;)

02-10-2009, 07:53 PM
Awesome, I didn't know I could take my boat there! I'll have to give it a try.

To those of you that want to take your own boat................better call the marina its not like they have a boat ramp that is access able by car the ramp is about 1000 ft from parkin lot and not all boats are allowed so go to the lake chabot marina web page to check out..............Its easier to rent during the week

i knew it was too good to be true...... ::)

i knew it was too good to be true...... ::)

My thoughts exactly.

I know they have good prices during the week on rentals, but I don't get many opportunities to fish during the week.

I'll check into it and let you guys know if I find anything out for sure...

I think it is limited to canoes, kayaks and float tubes.

My son, nick145 just joined the whopper club over the weekend with his 5.95 pound trout. He also had a small one about 2.5 pounds. It was a powerbait fish caught on Sunday. I am sure his spot is a secret so I can't help you here.

02-11-2009, 05:11 PM
yes it's true i caought a 5.95 pound rainbow trout. my bigest freshwater fish, i caought it @ racoon pt on power bait. on the prevoius day they where pullin out 6-9 pounders if you go to the marinia look for the one of the most recent ones.(02/07/09) i will be down there this weekend depending on the weather look for a rather large kid with a black jacket on call out nick [smiley=bananachaga.gif]

Sounds like Racoon pt. is the spot right now. good job! This storm and the rain to come is great. With all the runoff lake chabot will be back to itself sometime this spring. It's going to be a mudhole out there soon and some tough fishing so get out there while you can. I was there yesterday and the water still had decent visiblity but that will change in the next couple of days. The lake is too low right now but will be GREAT fishing after it rises and clears up.

Guys when your at Raccoon point do you cast waaaayyy out there?

02-15-2009, 08:50 PM
i hit chabot last week and was skunked. fished by the dam from about 1-4. i did see a gentleman walking out with 3 fish. one 3.5 pounds. i'm gonna have to hit racoon point.

Guys when your at Raccoon point do you cast waaaayyy out there?

I usually cast one rod out far and one near. Seems like they're pretty much all around there.

Hey Nick, I think I was the guy that netted that near 6#er a couple of weeks ago for you. That was a nice one! That kid knows how to fish.

02-18-2009, 01:09 PM
for the 5.95 #er i was about 75-100 yards and for the 4.87 i was about 50-75 yards out for both fish i caought in breaks in the light rain

02-18-2009, 04:00 PM
Where you catch it nick? hows the lake doing?

02-18-2009, 04:09 PM
i caought it @ racoon pt on the deep side(not the side with the dock) pm me for more info

02-19-2009, 01:47 PM
Nick145 your the man. Looks like a couple of good weeks of fishing for you and the rain didn't even stop you. Now that is a dedicated fisherman.
