Fished Del Valle today from 7am till 2:00pm started the morning in the South end didn't get a hit until the sun hit the water. put 3 fish in the boat. Then the clouds rolled in and the fish turned off.
headed down to Swallow bay for nothing then moved down to Heron bay and Found some fish that wanted to play. We worked that area for the next 2.5 hours and picked up 11 fish on Rapalas. ended the day back in the South end picked up two more fish before calling it a day.

I've been waiting to see how you did. That's a hell of a weather report, sounds like the fishing was more consistent.

I would think you were in Alaska with that weather report. Good job.

Nice work Woody. *Solid day of fishing!

Quick question though, am I jumping the gun or have there not been as many pigs landed this year. *Am I a little early or are the bigger fish not being planted? *Just curious.

Dilbeck I was talking to the guy at the marina store today and he said that Lasson was starting to plant but only 750 pounds a week and they aren't as big as last year.

I have been marking some big fish down deep and it seems they are getting a little shallower every trip out. Not sure if they are stripeers or hold overs from last yr. time will tell.

Woody,
Thanks for the report! *Way to find them! Sounds like you had another good day! *I'm guessing you had the full enclosure up today, with the heater going, and probably not to many others out?

Interesting, wonder why that is? *Cost benefit analysis?

Although I don't know about the particular fish your marking, but I'd have to believe that some of those slugs survived the pressure of the last year. *I can only imagine how those beasts would battle after a year "freedom." *[smiley=happy.gif]

Thanks Woody!

Nice job Woody. What Rapala colors did best? Anything of size?

Firetrout there was really no hot color today caught fish on a little of every thing. I also caught the first 3 fish on Grubs if the sun would of stayed out grubs in the south end would of been the hot ticket.

seems like they have been hitting everything with no real consistancy. on Sat we got fish on Yo-zuri pin minnows, Kastmaster, Grubs and even a Super-Duper.

woody, I have marked those big ones too, as deep as 80 feet. They must be some big holdovers or some nice stripers. they are just sitting on the bottom though. I was tempted to use the downrigger but I forgot it at home last trip.

Any one know yet how the rain will effect the inspections for those who dont have a band on their boat?

Fishmaster This is sunny Calif. It doesn't rain here. Ok maybe a little. I would just plan a trip while it is dry and get your boat banded then it is all good from there.

I am planning on going to Amador between Christmas and New years. So I might be waiting for the same dry spell to get back on Del Valle.

Woody, good job out there in the rain. Did you get a band when you were out there and does it cost $ for that? I assume you still have to pay the inspection fee next time. ::)

Reel Deal, whatever is down there at 70-80 ft we've tried everything in the box and have never had a taker. Anyone had any luck?

Jigster once you get the band there is no additional cost.

About the inspection.-If you have wet boat you will not pass the inspection. It does not matter where the water came from!-SD

you only have to pay for the inspection if you do not have the band.

whatever is down, there theyshow as nice clean BIG arches on my FF.

I am betting they are stripers.

How big are we talking? good sized trout? maybe its a good cat or possibly a small sturgeon.....I know they're in there but not many reports of them being caught.......possibly something to look into.......
