First of all, I must thank JMat for the excellent company, great boat ride, driving, and most of all putting me on my 1st mack!!! *Woo hoo 20 1/2" and around 2-2 1/2 lbs. *It was like in the low 20s when we got on the water @ 7:15 or so. *We started trolling and 1st 2 fish in like 20-30 mins. *JMat was so cold, he didn't want to put his line out or move at all for the 1st hr. Jjust jokin, he was driving through a narrow inlet and didn't want too much camotion. *his face was frozen solid trolling into the wind though. He caught up with me soon after he got his line in. *We ended up keeping our limits and releasing several others. *toplined crawlers and dodgers/flashers. *no lures worked for us today, just crawlers. *three of the nine bows had pink meat, but some of the fish w/white meat were pretty firm and had full fins too. *I'll be cookin the mack tomorrow. *not sure if i should smoke him or what? *any suggestions? *once again JMat...awesome dayh on the water and thank you so much...can't wait to return the favor. *Nice boat and ultra light set up.

Had a great time. Great company and good fishing can't be beat. You're welcome on my custom fishing yacht anytime ;D
Boy that picture of glassy UVR sure doesn't tell the story of the first couple hours trolling into that wind. I'm surprised my nose and ears didn't freeze solid and then fall off. :o It was cold!!!
What did the meat look like in the biggest rainbow?

I would suggest smoking the mac. I tried one on the bbq and didn't really care for it just my 2 cents.

thanks untalan1- will smoke...JMat that bow was the pinkest and firmest. nice catch and thanks for letting me eat him.

Smoking them works great. not so oily when smoked. fire on the bottom, then water in the bowl and fish on the grills on top 4 to 8 hrs. depending on thickness of fish and the tempeture. Dont forget brine your fish. And throw wood chips on the fire. Everyone does it different.I hope this helps.
