If your on a boat trolling, good lures to use that I have had luck with are rapala's: countdowns, jointed, float (firetiger or gold/black) and Kastmasters: smaller size (blue/chrome or gold). Others use a flasher with a nightcrawler. Speed of the boat is a factor too, vary your speed. They might like it fast or slow. Bring a net!

If you're on the bank. Chartreuse or Rainbow powerbait, powereggs, or inflated nightcrawler. Combo them up to get better results. *:)

Go to the marina and ask them what locations are good on boat or from the shore. They are there to help. *:)

Good Luck!

I"m not a big fan of lake Chabot but what worked for me was the marshmallow and nightcrawler combo from shore. Also rainbow powerbait worked pretty well too but worms are my first pick.
