Thanks for the report. I almost went to Oxbo this morning but decided to try the Confluence instead. I should of went to Oxbo.....Glad to hear you hooked into some nice bows. I was there a couple of weeks ago and saw a couple of huge browns heading up towards the Rubicon River...I could see them just couldn't get to them with my fly rod from the bank...http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_25.gif Did you try trolling up towards the Rubicon?

I see he has over 500 post, that makes him a big Kahuna, I'm sure he posted one or two reports in those 500 post ;) You're right, it's no secret place, but it is a nice place to fish during the week :)

Well I guess I'll be sure not to post anymore reports for this area. I read his original post and don't see a problum with it. I thought that's what this forum was for?.... Information

i felt the same way about bucks lake... that people would overrun it once they heard how beautiful, quiet and fishy it is. but its out of the way enough that it doesn't get overrun. same w/ oxebow. it is far enough away from convenience that it'll be fine! thanks for sharing info as i'm trying to learn more about it. so where is the report w/ pics? did i miss it? i'll look again. thanks

i don't understand how a place can be so "serene" if fishsniffer.com has a map of the place on its website! :-?

That exactly what I was thinking. I totally understand people not wanting people to post about their secret holes and streams, but Oxbo is not one of those places. It's small and you can't launch a very big boat on it, and there is hardly any shore access where the fish are. And they’re all wild and very tough to catch. The last thing I want is a ton of people fishing this hole, but I don't think a post about it will ruin it. French meadows and Hellhole is just down the road and I would think people would rather fish there than Oxbow. I will still post for that area. It just made my blood boil when I saw some of those replies. FF deleted the post and is no longer going to post that area because of one or two idiots, bummer deal for everyone.

Oxbow is sure as heck not a secret place>I have fished there for the past 40 yrs and have done well many times with my nest brown being ten lbs.I just wish that pcwa would not have dregded it about 15 yrs ago is has never been the same.

Virtually every piece of water has been mapped and written about for years. Prior to the internet one had to do a little research using maps, books, magazine and news paper articles or word of mouth.
All that information is still available through those sources but the internet has changed things, a few clicks and a fishing destination appears without having to do the leg work.
Whether a place is posted about or not the info is still out there, but we've become used to the instant gratification that the internet provides.
IMHO it's as simple as that.

Oxbow is tough to fish properly... I'll do the "serenity" in once and for all.

The secret is to fish where the PH dumps in when they ramp up flows early in the AM. Use worms or a small white jig- I have hooked into a couple monsters there.

I've trolled it, too, with a cartop. Caught some decent wild 'bows using wedding rings.

If you want some easier fishing, you can fish the Rubicon above the lake- loaded with fish. Some of them are large, but it's mostly smaller rainbows. There are probably some lunker browns, but I am guessing they hide during the day. I snorkeled the river from the PH up pas the first two big pools. There is no shortage of fish in that river- so I'm sure the lake has a good supply of wild fish.

There are a couple secret spots I don't post about. Oxbow isn't one of them.
