Beautiful day, weather was near perfect.. Rented our boat & in the water by 8am. Trolled narrows & back to the wind surfer shack.. lots of shore Fisherman.. Landed 3, released 4, 4 pop-offs.. hot lure was trusty gold Kastmaster ;D, other used was a J-5 brook trout.. 2k dump on monday, & the guy or fell in died from a stroke before hitting the water, only 40 years old (RIP), at least he went doing the thing he loved the most..our prayers go out to him & his family..

post a photo soon..

Sounds like you had a good day, too sorrowfull about the fisherman who lost his life. How deep is the water there, are the mini islands showing as you head out toward the dam? This time of year there is a good chance for a stiper or two headed in that area trolling as well.....Jetspray

Yup, saw a local anchored fishing for stripers right across the fallen tree, he said he caught a cat but waiting for a striper.. 8-) Really was surprised of the water level.. no islands to be seen, compared to last year.. got weeds only one time, across the tarntula cove.. we even saw the weeds, so much for getting to close to the shore.. :-/

It's an old stomping grounds for me (DV) but probably won't ever return. I get the jitters when I reach Jackson on hwy 88, no thank you California.......Jetspray

Water level is great, only down about 4 feet. only a few spots with weeks. water clarity is pretty good too. we hit the lake a few days ago and ended with 5, 3 of them went for 4 lbs. we marked a ton of fish deep but all the hit came on the topwater.

we are thinking of tubing this place for the first time. Any suggestions as to where to put in ? We don't want to have to kick a long ways to find where the action is :( We'll be fly fishing, trying to stay out of the way of the bait guys :D Any insight, help ? would be appreciated !

Use the second parking lot and launch anywhere along the shore. From the marina to the south, along the shore toward the point north of the lot there have been fish near the surface down to about 10 feet depth. Good luck!

I'll be there tomorrow morning. I think they start opening at 7:00 in November, don't they?

11-07-2008, 04:31 PM
I thought it was dec and jan when it is 7, not nov. I may be wrong, and if I am I will be waiting in line for a long time.

Woody, can you confirm.

11-07-2008, 04:37 PM
January and Febuary are the only 2 months they open at 7am

11-07-2008, 05:25 PM
I just checked the ebparks website and I read the marina hours are 7 to 5 starting in november. Maybe it has something to do with the inspections?

11-07-2008, 07:46 PM
Either way I'll either be waiting or launching at 630ish.

If they really have changed the launch time to 7 "so the inspectors could get a little more sleep," thats bologna! [smiley=duh.gif]

(I needed to remember the oscare meyer weener song for spelling assistance) [smiley=huh.gif]

Maybe they just want some sunlight to see?
