View Full Version : Wednesday at the Caples Lake "Mud Puddle

arrived at Caples Lake and walked down to the lake at around 7am. *set up and did not catch anything until around 9am. ended up with 4 Macks and one rainbow to the net. *missed about 6 on PB, they would steal the PB somehow and not get hooked. *missed several nice fish that got off right at my feet, had several get off a ways from the shore. *another fella showed up and was not catching anything so he finally wanders over to see what I was using, after he switched over to the "Captain Special Lure" he started nailing Macks and ended with 3 or 4 and a big smile. *
I filleted one Mack to try on the BBQ, will see if they are as bad as everyone says. *
it was tee shirt weather, absolutely beautiful day! *no wind in the morning and a breeze picked up around noon. *had a limit by noon, all fish were released except one Mack and the rainbow that I kept for dinner. *these Macks are very skinny compared to the Tahoe Macks.

Very nice Atavuss. Beautiful pictures. The Macks are indeed skinny but the Brooks, Browns and Bows are all fat and sassy. Heading up there tomorrow and Saturday if I can get over the pass. Hope to see you.

Not to many days of that short sleeve weather left. Nice job tipping a guy on how to get into those fish. Hope to make the trip up next weekend if possible.
