We headed for Jackson Meadows early Thursday morning. We met up with Puch and wife Vicki in Carson City and followed them up as this was our first time there. Decided to go through Tahoe on our way to Truckee then on to Jackson Meadows. Set up camp and tried a little evening fishing, started out with flashers and worms. We both had hits, but they wouldn't stick. Got up early Friday and started with worms again, no luck, then tried rapalas, still no luck. We then swithed out to Thomas Bouyants and bam first pass Sherry nailed a nice 3# 19" rainbow. Then I saw Sherry's pole bouncing on the downrigger, so we reeled up and she had another nice 1.5# rainbow, then when I reeled mine in it was about a 6"er. :-? Lot's of water skiers so we got off the water. Trolled again that evening for 1 more 1.5#er. All fish were caught between 15' and 20' on OTW. Water temp was between 70 & 72 degrees. Saturday trolled for about 2 hours for nothing. Shore fisherman seem to be doing better than boaters right now. Still had a great time with great friends.

Haven't been there since boy Scouts. Glad to see the place is still there. Sherry caught the fish of the trip I see. Tom that's a pretty big whopper. Did you keep any? 8-)

Nice report and pictures from a beautiful looking lake. Where is Jackson Meadows? It looks like I need to take a trip down to where all you guys fish. On the other hand, I would love to show you a few of my favs farther up north. :)

Prowler, Jackson Meadows is between Truckee and Sierraville off of Hwy 89.

MacDaddy, we kept Sherry's big one, had it for lunch today, awesome red meat and tasted real good too. :) ;)

Is the road still paved up there?

Which launch did you use?

Yep, it's still paved. We launched just past East Meadows campground.

Great report and pics TT

Spent a week last Sept. after all the fleas left at JM, what a beautiful place. Only 30min from my house but I haven't been there this year yet.

Sounds like a great time.
Appreciate your report and tackle tip, not to many positives coming out of anywhere.

Great report and some cool pics to boot. JM is a beautifull place for sure, come the end of Sept. you should hit it again...most likely the water skiers will be gone. ;)

* * Great fish Tom, I was there with a friend Sun evening and Mon morning. *We managed one fish on a jointed Rapala. *Flashers and worms produced nothing. *It was super smoky and windy on Monday but Sunday evening was nice.

Waterskiing - I've never figured out why waterskiing is allowed at a high elevation (6200 ft) cold water lake! I've fished there before where jet ski and water ski folks can really ruin it. Again, limit the "water sports" to below 5000 feet. Oh well.

ps - who was lucky dog earlier post who is only 30 minutes away from Truckee area action? Nice. You most live in Truckee??
