Been working on must do projects this week so I decided to reward myself with a morning off so down to the Walkers I go. I have yet to be able to fish mid canyon on the West Walker this year due to runoff. when I arrive there this morning I find it high and off color due to recent thunder storms. I say to myself why not give it a cast or two just for grins. Good choice. 8-) First cast is upstream with a 1/4 oz gold/black Panther Martin. The current is so strong I can't keep up and the lure tumbler along the bottom.. Next cast is down stream and the PM skips across the top of the water. The third cast is 3/4 down stream in the slower water across the river. Two cranks and the water explodes. The trout gets in the heavy current and it takes me 5 minutes to drag him back up stream. A husky 18 inch 2 1/2 pound Alpers bow. The next cast to the same spot brings the same result. I nab his twin. Another 1/2 hour gives me no more trout so up to the Little Walker. There were fishermen at both the bridges and the River between. The Litter Walker was running very clear and at a good pace. I found a place to fish on the down stream side of the uppermost bridge. Not a very good spot but I managed to catch two stockers in 1/2 hour of fishing. Lastly I decided to fish the W. Walker just above the town of Walker at the head of the Antelope Valley. Parked and went down to the river to find a place to fish. Seemed that every good hole was already occupied by anglers. The on going month long fishing derby seems to be drawing the crowds. Found a large rock jutting out from the rapids across the river and saw it as the best available choice. Fished there for around 45 minutes and caught 13 nice planter bows. After I lost my last PM it was down to Walker for lunch and back home. It was a beautiful day. Warm with clear skies and no smoke.

Those alpers were hungry. Gold spinner flashing by in fast muddy water......bam! slam! NICE CC :)
A trout every three minutes average is nuts. Way to find the boulder spot.
Great morning on the river. Cherish that one

Nice looking Alpers Capt,
Got to a new island with access to check up on you guys. 8-)

I will be back on the mainland and back to work on Wednesday.
Hope to be back up the hill next weekend.

I deserve a trip to catch a few fish, a vacation without fishing, who planned this trip? ;)

Very nice CC, Walker looks fish-able finally, only 4 months into the season 8-), good looking alpers you have a knack for finding those big ones. Check you PMs I am coming home for 5 days before fall camp, your report is convincing me to go out to the walker for a day.
CG- Enjoy the sunshine in paradise!

I'm jealous cpt. I'm lucky to make it over to that area twice a summer. You seem to fish it all the time. Way to go and nice pics. I know that bridge on the little walker well. I love that little river.
