Met fellow Sniffer Mr. Ed at the 89 boat ramp at 7AM, (off at 2:30) The water has come up quite at bit in a few weeks. Water and wind were calm with a fog rising from the lake. We were the only boat on the lake until 11. The concrete ramp is still a ways out of the water so it was a mud launch.

Water temp 50 deg. Started trolling flashers and dodgers with Ĺ worm, 1.1-1.3 with 50-75í setbacks. Water depth 35í in front of the ramp arm to 65í at the right side of the dam. Mr. Edís home painted white/pink dodger with red wedding ring/worm was the most desired setup of the day.

Bite from 8-11? The bite wasnít hot hot but we hooked 9 to 10 small rainbows. We were additionally entertained with another 5-6 rod tip pumpers. We started to shorten the wigglers. We (I) kept 3. More than Ĺ had Copeopods. Tried for bass at the stump forest north of the ramp. We had 2-3 teasers.

They look just like Docs posted picture of the little opportunists

The water was mirror gorgeous. There was a motor home at the campground and 4 or so bankers.

Sure is strange seeing all the fish with copepodes lately.I fished Prosser since the the early 70's and have never caught one fish with copepodes on them. Now it seems like all the lakes are getting them.

It was a great outing with blue skys, Ossprey, poles bouncing....... ;)

The fish were not in full swing yet with the cold water and they had
to hit the lure 3 to 4 times before they hooked up.

I had a lot of LDR's with a size 4 Gami and went to a #2 before they
started sticking.

Best bet was the top line.

Thanks again Zhands for the great boat ride in you slick little outfit
with all the goodies. ;) *Very enjoyable. *We will have to get together again. 8-)

The only problem I had was finding Zhand in the early morning.

The melt is just getting started... so yes. Will it fill up. ..... I hope so.

There is Not a whole lot of info on Prosser. Mt. Hardware's old reports are a good source.

And the map needs a little help...small

Unkown source>>>Fishing Notes:
Rainbow Trout are the main species caught at Prosser Creek Reservoir. Bank fishing with Power Bait, inflated nightcrawlers and lures is excellent from the spring after ice out until the lake begins to ice over in the winter or late fall. The dam, boat ramps and creek inlets are the top producers. Trolling with Rapalas, Needlefish, Cripplures, Hum Dingers and Sparklefish is also productive throughout the lake. Fly fishermen fishing from float tubes can find success using leech patterns and Clary Buggers throughout the year.
German Brown Trout are best pursued in the spring or late fall when they move into the inlets to spawn. Troll or cast Rapalas, Rebels and other lures or fly fish with big streamers and minnow imitation patterns.
Smallmouth Bass are occasionally caught by bank anglers and boaters fishing lures or bait for trout around rocky points in the summer and fall.

Just don't get the idea of having a bass tounament up there.... ;D ;D

It is a great lake for kids or a casual outing for some trout.

There are browns in this lake but you really have to put the time in
since most of the people do not release them....... :'(

I do not think this is a top priority lake for the "Planters"...... :'( :'(

I have never had a 5 fish in 100 minutes, *limit at this lake.

Good fishing *Ed

Good job guys, the fishing was tough for me on Sunday, check out the post. I have had limits at this lake in the summer in half an hour, and usually catch about 30 fish an outing.
