Arrived at the White Bridge on the West Carson River just before 5 AM with Wolfden and one of his co-workers. Wolfden's brother from Roseville was all ready there saving us a spot. BreakofDawn arrived shortly after having had problems with his alarm clock. Most folks stayed by the bridge but BoD and I decided to go down stream a bit. Should have stayed by the bridge. The river was stocked at this spot by both the DFG and Alpine county and the fish had not strayed more that 100 feet from the bridge. Wolfden and his brother had 8 trout between them including several in the 3 to 4 pound class. After returning from our fish less trip down stream BoD and I were able to get some fish as well. The catching lasted until around 8:00 and then they were gone. The best bait seemed to be Green Powerbait. I managed two on a yellow Panther Martin. There were lots of other fishermen lining both sides of the bank and fishing off both sides of the bridge. Many crossed lines but everyone was civilized. Everyone had at least one fish. BoD and I moved on to fish other areas including. The meadow by Sorensens, the Highway 88 Bridge, Markleeville Creek, the E. Carson at the Highway 4 bridge and ICR. We had no further luck. The Old White Bridge on the W. Carson seemed the place to be.

No Joy at ICR but we weren't really set up for fishing there. We were using lures. ICR is best on Worms or Gulp. BoD had never fished there so we thought to give it a try.

Wow CC, early start. *Guys on both sides crossing lines gives me a bit of the jeebs, but glad to here a few trout came to YOUR hook. *Sorry exploring away from the dfg discharge site wasn't successful. *I'd have been hiking too. *

Iím with Mat CC; you are definitely doing a great job keeping us informed about that area. I donít think Iíve had to call Woodford once for a report since youíve been on board. Nothing like first hand info.

Capt just curious since i never fished a river before how do you fish powerbait in a river? Like you would in a lake with a sliding sinker setup? Thanks

To tell the truth I used lures hense only two trout. Wolfden was using a standard powerbait setup like for a lake but dropping it in a hole. It certainly worked. I guess the weight sunk it to the bottom and I guess it waved in the current.
