I want to try Del Valle this weekend and from the other posts it seems that a Rapala F5 is the hot lure. I looked online and could not find a Rapala with that model designation. Can anybody advise as to what I should go get for this weekend?

Thanks *8-) *8-)

It's the 2" original floater:

They are available just about anywhere including Walmart.

it says f5 on the box at the store but if you try to find them at an online retailer, you have to know the name of the plug and not the code.

f5 = original floater in size 5

I use those and I also have luck with the jointed floaters as well.

You can also use a J-5 or J-7

It is essentially the same lure but broken or "jointed" hence the "j" designation.

it has more action than the F series. Firetiger seems like the hot color at del valle

again, walmart, sports chalet, big 5, they carry them everywhere fishng supplies are sold

Just don't run the jointeds at 3 mph. Those are probably best at sub 2 mph speeds. At 3mph the lure action wouldn't look natural.

Oh jeez, that little lure? Isn't that like the first ever lure ever mass produced? ::) ::) I shoulda known, I only have three or four of them. I just didn't know the designation.

Thanks alot guys. I really appreciate it. 8-) 8-)
