I have a 8' cast net that I want to take to the bay with me tomorrow lauching out of berzerkeley. *I've never tried catching live bait with a cast net, but where could I try catching something live to drift with? *I use to catch smelt on the berkeley pier (long time ago), but I don't know if they are there are this time. *What do you think???

anywhere that has some type of piling structure should be good... docks and piers are good....

Go to the Berkeley Pier EARLY and throw your net little past the rest room area in the front. Im not sure if there is Shiner rite now but I know there are smelt be/c Im cathing them on the boat and the dock. Smelt has not done me wrong so far this year for me big catch so try to get some smelt.

GL. :)
