Took my friend Kevin out to Del Valle today to shake the skunk that has been plagueing him.Got to the lake at 7am this morning. Put the boat in the water and began trolling towards the shallows.Picked up a quick 3 dinky trout. Then nothing for a half hour. Covered the entire south end of the lake in search of the big ones but just kept hooking up with 10-12 inchers. Went down to Heron Bay and set up again only to get into another dozen as Woody put it " Striper Food" sized. It was a tough day trying to locate good groups of fish. They seemed to be in all the usual areas, just stuck to the bottom. Rain might have made them spooky. 3pm. and tired of hooking into Striper bait we decided to troll back to the south end and give it one more shot. Trolled the front of the tules just past the narrows in 10 feet of water and one of the rods drag started screaming. FISH-ON!! And a pretty good one. Got it to the boat. 7lber. We'll keep this one :) Threw it in the fishbox and continued trolling. Cut across and trolled the tules across from marina and the drag starts singing. Fiesty 3lber put on a good ariel show and twisted all the lines up. In the fishbox he went.Caught 19 fish today, released 15 that were too small, kept 4 for kevins freezer.
Woody it was nice talking with you out there today. The other guy out there *was targeting striper and did pretty good on a bunch of 18-22 inchers.
Here's Kevins 7lber.

I knew opening this thread there had to be fish pictures. You never fail! Glad you got out before this weekend, I suppose it will be pretty nasty with the storm coming.

Fished Del Valle Thursday boy was it crowded. *I believe there were 4 boats on the lake and 3 of them were sniffers fishmaster, fishreaper & myself. *We pretty much picked up fish in all the normal locations in front of the dam, Heron Bay, *Swallow bay & South end. *The problem was most of the fish were 10 to 12 inches long we did catch one in swallow bay that was 3+ pounds. *We also had the pleasure of seeing the new Bald Eagle. *He thought he was going to get an easy lunch from one of the fish we released.

We ended the day with 16 fish

Water temp 50 to 52

Water condition still very off colored at the creek but clearing as you go north.

SERIOUSLY, it must have been me. I'm jealous, 16 fish!?? Man, I'm glad you got back into the swing of things. Sounds like a typical 'woody day' at del valle!
