Diana Mello of A-1 Bait in Snelling reported little angler interest with the cold and rainy conditions. The snow level dropped to 1,300 feet at Barrett's Cove. Mike Van Guilder Jr. of Fishwrangler's Bass Guide Service said larger bass can be located from 4 to 25 feet with swimbaits and Berserk jigs in dark colors. Split or drop-shotting plastics will work for smaller fish, as well as Senkos in the shallows. A slow presentation is essential in the cold water. Diana Mello of A-1 Bait said trout fishing has improved for trollers working the surface to 35 feet with Cop Car, rainbow or sky Needlefish, blue/chrome or Wedding Rings tipped with a 'crawler in the river arm to Barrett's Cove and in Horseshoe Bend. Bank anglers have been scoring near Barrett's with green Power Eggs combined with a 'crawler or live minnows under a bobber. Crappie fishing is best at night under lights for fish to 1 pound with red/white or pearl mini-jigs or small minnows in Horseshoe Bend. The fish are holding tight to brush piles or rocky structure at 30 feet in depth. No catfish, kokanee or king salmon reports. The lake came up 605 acre-feet to 25% capacity. The only ramps open are at Barrett's Cove South and McClure Point.
