The last two days at Topaz were pretty good. *I caught four yesterday and seven today. *I kept three each day. *The rest were lip hooked and made for an easy release. *The fish are some nice slabs between 15 and 18 inches and fat. *I caught them all on marshmallows and crawlers. *It was 11F when I got there today. *As you can see in the first picture the ice was quickly encroaching on my fishing area. I had to move North once just to find some more open water. *It sure is nice being able to catch quality fish 30 minutes from home. *I don't know if I will go tomorrow because we have a small front coming through and the barometer will be dropping. *;)

Northwest and I saw quite a few trucks on the North beach. *The North end was free of ice. If I go tomorrow I think I will try the Park and go fish the East side.

Topaz is just like Tahoe. Nevada and California both work.

Thanks Camotracker. For stonesfan's and my sake I hope those Amador trout are a little more active than these Topaz trout right now. *I got lucky the last couple of days but it is slow overall. ;)

Troutfan;

I Have a small BBQ I can bring down for hot dogs or hamburgers ..??
To go with a cold one.

Maybe we can make the best of it, in this lousy weather ?

Maybe even marshmellows or "Smores"..............

It's about an hour Brendan. C'mon down sometime on a weekend if you want to do some bank fishing.

The trick is to avoid driving through the middle of Carson City. Turn left on Rt 50 when you come off the partially completed bypass and turn right on Fairview (It's called Graves Ln on the left). Take it until it hits 395 at the South end of the city.

Maybe some of the locals know a better way.

Good tip Doc. That's about the best way to avoid the bottleneck that is Main Street, Carson City.

No ice fishing at Topaz. It gets a thin layer but never enough to ice fish...even before Global warming! ;D

Time for some Trout Almondine tonight! ;) Excuse the sloppy looking fillets but I let the old man do 'em. His eyes and hands aren't what they used to be but it makes him feel useful.
