Lots of limits of bass to 7 pounds can be taken by dart-heading, drop-shotting, jigging or spooning in 25-60 feet near steep banks, particularly near trees, Merritt Gilbert said. Anglers have been scoring a few planted trout to 14.5 inches trolling Needlefish or Wedding Rings at five colors of lead core. One angler was targeting king salmon at 80-100 feet and was surprised by landing four spotted bass to 2 pounds. The lake has come up 1,310 acre-feet to 24% capacity. The lower Kings below the Dam continues to receive weekly trout plants, including the trophy Kamloops fish, on a biweekly basis until March. Doyal's Store reported several of the trophy fish to 8 pounds were landed, especially on nightcrawlers or Power Bait. Buck Deaner added Bruce Beck of Fresno brought in three fish of more than 5 pounds with green Roostertails, chrome/prism Kastmasters and rainbow or yellow Power Bait under a bubble working well. After three plants, the fish are starting to adjust and hit bait and lures.
