View Full Version : Los Vaqueros 11/21

Drove up to Livermore and wasn’t sure if I was going to spend the day bank fishing at Del Valle or Los Vaqueros. *Saw the windmills weren’t moving much and decided on the Cowboys. *

Had a line in the water by 7:32 and had my first fish on at 7:33. *;D *A nice 2 pounder to start the day. *Had 3 more fish by 8:30. *Then it was just a couple of nibbles on my nightcrawlers for the remainder of the morning. *Caught 3 more fish in the afternoon. Except for the first fish, all fish were not big and were 1 to 1 ˝ pounds. * * *

Morning was chilly and became windy, but the afternoon was very pleasant

Last night I searched for recent reports on Los Vaqueros or Del Valle. *Found some for DV but not LV. *If you do go fishing this weekend, please post a report to help your fellow sniffers. *:D

Happy Turkey Day!

I hit Los Vaqueros on Tuesday 11/20/07, I did the same as you, except I started from 11am-5pm. *I spoke to one of the guys that was fishing who actually works there. *He said all the trout they received from Calaveras on 11/13/07 were in the 1-3 lb. range and that the plant was a week late.... *They were originally expecting the fish from Calaveras to be 2-6 lbs on 11/07/07.......

i haven't been to this lake in while but the today during our thanksgiving feast, I heard from my uncle that there are quite few cars lined up every weekend waiting to get in. He lives in Brentwood so he passes the lake a few time a week to work. When I used to go, there was barely any people and we basically had the lake to ourselves. I gotta tell you though, those trout are pretty huge. I remember the first time my dad and I went, the fish averaged like two pounds or more each.

GottabKevin-I fish the banks anywhere from the South Cove to just past the Rock Wall. *Because I'm lazy I fish the areas closest to the parking areas and the restrooms. *My leaders are 24-30 inches long and I cast my line out about 15-30 feet from the shoreline. *The white power egg and inflated half nightcrawler is what they were biting on for me. *

joshc40- yes, the last few times the fish I was catching were 2 and 3 pounders. *It made the drive from Mountain View worth it.

good luck

I hit the South Cove on Sunday & it was incredibly slow on 11/25/07 from 7am - 12pm, there was nothing except a couple of suckers & dinky bows caught. *So, I moved northwest of the Rockwall from noon to 415pm, my son caught a 1 1/2 lb. Rainbow & I got my mug nailing a 5.76 lb. Salmon.
