BroncoMatt and I set out for the journey to Pyramid this morning, leaving Rocklin at 4 AM. *Got into Crosby's at about 7 AM after stopping at Boomtown and putting 37 gallons of h-test in the boat. *Ouch!!

We launched into 2 foot waves and headed north from Pelican. *We were trolling a pair of Lyman's, frog patterns in green with red dots and yellow with red dots.

Just past Spyder I see a fish jump (yes it jumped) behind the boat and turned to see one rod bent out back instead of down towards the downrigger. *I grabbed the rod and I knew it was a good one on. *

I finally got him close to the boat and he took off and burned up some line. *I was concerned because I use 8 pound test and a Talora and I was losing ground on this one.

As he got back to the boat he dove under the swim step and almost got caught in the kicker prop. *Then he dove straight down.

I tightened down on the reel again and gently worked him up to the surface. *Matt got him on the third net attempt.

8 pounds on the Boga and about 28 inches for my best Cutt to date.

Matt caught one 20 incher just after that and the bite slowed down.

At Crosby's he weighed 6.8 pounds and taped 27".

On the way back we braved the crowds at Cabela's and spent a couple of hours in the fishing and firearms sections. *We left with plenty more to see the next time we are up.

As the weather (water) gets colder the fishing should get better, so get back here soon. See you on the lake.
