Fished Eagle Lake this morning. Arrived 7:30 very foggy. Left the dock and headed toward Eagle's nest trying to stay in sight of shore. Trolled night crawlers. Caught 10 fish, lost 3.
Forgot my camera, but took a picture on the lawn at home of the fish we kept.

Nice report and pics! My uncles always telling me and my dad to go to eagle lake to catch those holdovers. Hope that day comes soon because I want to catch some of those monsters! God bless

Very nice fish. I haven't been there yet. I think one day I just need to go.

So I assume you were fishing the south end of the lake. Have they planted down there yet??

My brother, who lives in Susanville, has fished Eagle Lake a half a dozen times in the past month. He only has been fishing the south end and has caught fish between 3 and 5 pounds on every outing. Most of them have been caught within a stones throw of the marina. Since this is contrary to most reports about where the fish are (see reports of "combat fishing" at the Youth Camp) he has had little competition. Most have been taken on mini crawlers (no flashers, scents or anything else) trolled shallow and slow. He has had outings where he was only on the water about an hour before he had two fish that were too nice (4 plus pounds) to put back. It really has not been this good at Eagle for a long time, but even now not every day is that easy. A couple of times he has worked 4 or 5 hours for one fish.

He has e-mailed me a couple of pictures but I do not know how to post them. If someone wants to do it I can send them to you by e-mail.

Most of the smaller ones we caught were about 13-14 inches. Is that about the size they plant? We caught several that size and put them back. That seems a little large for planters.
The fog finally burned off at 11am. Then it was calm for about 15 min. Then the breeze started in from the SW. By the time we got to the dock there were whitecaps out in the open water.

Here is one of the pictures I mentioned (if this works). Thanks to fishpeddler for the posting help.

I don't know how to include multiple pictures in the same post, so here is the other picture.
