Left Minden 6 AM went south on 395 to Nev 208 to Wellington and 338 south over Sweetwater Summit. Arrived at the Elbow section of the E. Walker a little after 7. Fellow Sniffer BreakofDawn and I fished this lovely stretch of river for two trout each. Next we drove *5 miles back up the Luck Boy Pass to the Rosarchi Ranch section of the E. Walker. This section is artificial lures only, single barbless hook with a limit of zero. BoD managed to catch one Bow under the bridge with a mutilated Super Duper. There was only one other fly fisherman there. I suspect he was a pro. We followed the E. Walker up into California and fished the special regs section. The water was very low and difficult fish due to weeds. No fish so we moved on. We then fished off the dam at Bridgeport. *The water was extremely low and off color. We need lots of rain folks. After a brief stop at Ken's in Bridgeport to pick up a stuff trout for BoD's kid we traveled north on 395. We made a brief stop at the Little Walker but nothing was going on. Last stop was the West Walker in the canyon. The water was very low, clear and cold. The Captain caught a fat 14" Bow on a black and gold Panther Martin. We fished down the river for another 1/2 hour with no further luck. We noted other trout in the river up to 4 pounds but they were very spooked. The morning on the E. Walker in Nevada was clear and cold with the smell of frost and sage brush in the air. It is one of the most beautiful mornings I can remember. The Pictures will talk. Hopefully BoD will add some more.

Nice pix CC! I can't believe that Bridgeport is that discolored! Wish that the water would start falling from the sky soon. In whatever form! The Sierras need a good winter...
As always, your report is excellent, even if the conditions & fishing aren't! I miss the beautiful side of the "hills"! I really want to make one more run up to the "Twins" before the season closes and try for some of those big ol' browns, but I don't know if that will be able to happen...
Keep those excellent reports & photos coming!

Great report and pics capt. whish i was there instead of here in Con. waiting for this dam oil to be cleaned. I have a trip to catch crabs/halibut on Thurs. but our boat just got pulled out of the water for blown motor from oil sludge blockage and the Berkeley Mar. is closed till ???. So i guess i will go to work and wait for another awsome report from you. [smiley=cheers.gif]

Bridgeport was a little sad. A big snow year is needed. I'll do my snow dance. 8-)

If I had the choice of but two luers for trout fishing they would be the 1/4 oz gold Kastmaster and the 1/8 oz black and gold Panther Martin.

I agree, those two lures have worked in every high country stream I have ever fished-in almost every county in CA.

It is amazing, you spend two days in bed with a head cold and the Captain has already made this old news ;D Sorry about the skunk Capt. but way to win some of my money back ;D
Well what can I say that Captain didn't....... not much! The Ranch area of the East Walker was stunning and the chill in the air made it that much better. Parts of the river by the Elbow are hard to get to due to thick brush and trees. Some to the banks are steep and managed to fall on my ... twice not to mention Capt took a header after catching a pant leg on some barbed wire :o. How is the leg? But the fish are there and the water is cold. There were a few deep holes but the runs were very shallow. With a little rain, I will be heading back there next year.

Bridgeport was cool and there were some nice 5 pound bows in the freezer outside of Ken's.

Captain landed this Cutts but decided to let it go until next time ;D

We stop at a little walker and fished for a half for nothing and headed for the last stop of the day. Capts. honey hole on the W.Walker. We get out of the truck and survey the water for five mintues... grab our gear and hit the hole.

First cast Capts reel is spooling with a nice bow.

Tried to get an action shot of Capt in action.
