Took a drive up to Spicer Dam to check out the access, on Friday, the 2nd. A guy with his 2 boys had his hands full, both his fishing partners, and the 3 fish he caught while I was there.

He was one happy guy!

Accompanied by my two sons on Sunday, we arrived to find the launch area was fine, plenty wide enough to turn around at the bottom.

One problem....do you see that truck? Excuse me for my forthcoming rant, but these guys that park their trucks right in the launch area really get my goat. We've seen it every place we fish. What a bunch of inconsiderate jerks. But I digress.

Anyway... the lake was as smooth as glass, and the sun played peek a boo with the clouds, so the temp was very pleasant all day. The water temp was 50, and felt it.

The fishing was a bit slow at first. My usual go to rig of Seps silver flashers, and a wedding ring tipped with a crawler was producing bites, but we could not hook up. I tried different combo's, and then hit paydirt with a silver Seps Sidekick, with a night crawler served straight up, on a 12" leader. WE had several LDR's, a few doubles, and put ten gorgeous fat 12-14 inchers in the box.

Here's my youngest, with his first two. He caught and landed the first, and the second pole went off, so he brought that one in too.

It was great day, and the first trip in our new "old" boat, which I found right here on the Fish Sniffer. It's a '69 Chrysler Sport Satellite. The guy I bought it from is the son of the man who bought it brand new. It has a nice bow mount trolling motor, with either hand or foot control, Scotty downriggers, (which we did not use today), fish finder, and all the original full canvas. When I pulled the engine cover, it looked brand new, and ran like it too. What a great deal for 500 bucks!
The interior is all original, all the original lights and switches work, and the floor is covered with that spray on bedliner stuff. I'm really a happy camper!

Steveo nice pics and tales. Yes Those who park and don't consider others are inconsiderate (*^%%^$ but maybe just maybe they didn't expect anyone else to be there still move your truck just in case and be considerate, shoulda broke the window released the brake and let it roll into the water. Spicer is a great lake just a bit of a drive but worth it.

Looks like a fine time. Cooperative fish, good weather and your sons to spend the day with ;)

I gotta get up there but the local lakes (Caples, Red and ICR) are just too hot right now.

No dock. Water is down below the launch ramp. Spring conditions, there is a single dock. I have to admit, getting my boat on the trailer, with even the slight breeze we had, was horrible. I had to wade in.
