We took a cruise around Melones to see whats up. Nothing for us except Froggie had 1 LDR. We tried Rose, mouth of Coyote Creek, 49 bridge, spillway, main lake. We wern't even seeing many.
We did see a few caught. Met a gentleman...Greg (Branson I think) he was into some browns. I tried to take a pic but my old camera didn't do too well. Now I remember why we bought the new one that I broke recently(...but that is a different story) What a nice day. Mirror surface with a warm sun and a crisp feel to the air. Wow I don't think we saw 10 boats all day. More like the same 5 several times. It was a fantastic day to let Froggie cruise around the lake while I napped. First time I've nodded off fishing in a long time. I'm usually too busy netting Froggie's fish.
Greg it was really nice to meet you. Sorry the pic isn't better.

Hey Tortuga, Do you know if any one has run up river. Say above the Parrots ferry bridge? I'm done with the river salmon. Can't wait to put all the riggers and my trout stuff on. Maybe run into you up there soon. I'll let you know. Robbie (Koke Machine)...

It was our first time on Melones since Sept. Froggie kept saying we ought to go up river and we never made it. I haven't heard from anyone fishing anywhere on Melones. The surface water was 64-69 degrees so its not quite ready to turn over yet. The few fish I've heard about have been shallow. that brown was a broken back Rapala at 12". They ought to be kicking off any time now.
We'll see you on the water

How do you fish in that lake....trolling with flashers, dodgers, top line??? Or do you use down riggers? *I've been fishing Silver Lake but it's getting too cold and snow should be there soon so I'm looking at New Melones *:)

hey, i was just down stream of you at tulloch and got into some good action near the top, water was 60-62 there. It is usually cooler there because the water comes from the bottom of melones. Anyway, the trout were on top and biting.
