I returned to Silver Lake yesterday with my car topper and trolling motor only to be skunked. *The winds were so strong, that my poor 42# Minkota motor couldn't keep up so I was forced to return home without a fish.
But when I got home the wife said that my fishing buddy Phishinfools2 aka Jimbo had called to see if I wanted to head up today.

We got at the lake a few minutes before daybreak and started some serious fishing. *Right off the bat, Jimbo picked up a nice brown I followed up with a couple of bows. *

The winds picked up and was just as strong as yesterday pushing his boat around but we were committed and determined to fish the day. *Fishing was hot and cold thru-out the day but after all was said and done, we boated over 30 between us, with Jimbo pulling in more than me....it must have been his new lucky rod *:).

Here's a shot of Jimbo with the Brown

Here's a shot of him removing the hook on one of his 18 trout he boated *before releasing

Well well well what a day. I wasnt going to go fishing this weekend but after seeing the posts by Seon of Silver and the posts by CC i started gettin a real bad itch. I called Seon and sure as the sun comes up he was good to go,so off for the 350 mile round trip in 24 hours Seon and Phishinfool2 off on a worldwind adventure (just like donkey and shrek). The water was wet and the waves and wind were ferocious at times but we did stick it out for yet another fun day of fishin boated a couple nice bows and several nice browns. Part way through the morning Seon tell me to try this new pole he brought, so I change reels to this new pole and set up and bam the pole goes off like a rocket, Seon tells me he bought me the pole (what a swell guy) but as soon as the pole dips in the water and gets hot he wants it back ha ha ha. Thanks a million for the pole Seon you are way to generous. Below are some of the pics of the Ocean type water and Seon with his catch.

I was just reflecting back to yesterday about how windy it was and how the wind was just blowing the boat around...but all in all we were able to mangage to have a good day's catch. *This just didn't happen by luck. *It was the mastery of Phishinfool2 aka Jimbo's captainship (is that a word?), navigating to keep his "5 star" (see pic) boat on course while reeling in a catch or removing the hook. *I tell you, Jimbo's the man! *If any of you ever get an invite to fish with him, by all means, go. *He knows Silver Lake like the back of his hand *;).

Glad to see you guys scratching that trout itch. [smiley=excited.gif]
The high sierra lakes are kik'n out some serious numbers of fish!
If I would have taken my buddy (see "Another One bites the dust" post) He would have been worn out after the 5th fish. How fast you guys trolling for the Browns ? Ripping plugs shallow in the first hours of sunrise can get some big ones. At least so I have heard. I have yet to land a brown over 5lbs.
Seon sure sounds like a good fishing partner. Hey Jimbo I like that beanie. Got one just like it. Keeps you warm and looks great. How Bout them Cowboys ! [smiley=guns.gif] 8-)
Nice stringer :)
Sorry for the hijack ;D

went to Silver lake today. what a gorgeous day! most of the time there was NO wind and the lake was dead calm. there was a slight breeze once in a while. my buddy was catching small 12" browns right and left on rapalas. I kept a nice 2.4 pound rainbow about 17" and a couple of 15" bows, let a bunch of smaller 12" bows go. my buddy ended up with 3 15" bows. a darn near perfect day on the water. saw two bald eagles circling the same area and every time they would drop close to the water it looked like a fish was jumping up at the bald eagles. don't know what was going on there.

Trust me Seon, Atavuss was going out of the boat. We (Seon and I) saw the same Eagle on the lake but couldn't quite get a pic the damn seagull was causing him to fly higher and higher. Atavuss it is good to hear you did well today what about the pics(please try to make Seon and I jealous) yea I didn't think so. ... :D No matter what you post yo can not take the grin off our faces. Silver is a great lake but I would like to take Seon up to Caples lake to give it a try, Caples has always been good to me i would like to get Seon up there and get him into some mean fish up there but we have had so much fun at Silver I am afraid to break tradition and switch lakes.. Seon do you want to switch lakes and try Caples either first or second???

Well I don't know....will we catch fish there? ::)

You asking me if I want to go fishing is like taking a kid to a candy store and asking if he'd like some candy...OF COURSE I WOULD!!! ;D ;D

sorry about the terrible pics.
we were trolling in a Gregor aluminum boat.
Jimbo, the ramp at Caples is not useable, you have to drive down the shore and launch. *don't know if they are still open or not this late in the season. *also, the owner at Caples is well known for not opening the gate until 7am or later. *you can still bank fish though. *there is supposed to be a new and free public ramp for 2008 at Caples lake.
Caples Lake Resort phone # *209-258-8888 for more information. *it was 20.00 to launch there this year. *
Seon and Jimbo, where are you guys from? I am from Stockton and my buddy lives in Comanche Village.
