Leaving Sac around 530am. Hope to have lines in the water by 8:00. Gonna be an interesting day...maybe we'll get rained on, maybe we'll get snowed on, maybe I'll be putting chains on the truck just to launch the boat. Who knows???

Anybody else as crazy as me headed up there? If so, I'll be on 69. I have a feeling though that I may be the only fool on the pond.

Leave your bikini at home and take the chains, you're probably gonna need them. ;)

No matter how bad it is in the next 24 hours, it won't be as bad as sliding down the Spaulding ramp on a sheet of ice at Eagle in December...

That is where I was going this weekend but I figured it would be snowed in. going to the delta instead. let us know how it goes when you get back.

Yeah I'm figuring it's gonna be snowed in too, especially since it looks like it will come down tonight and I'll probably be the first person through it in the morning. But Hey...That's what 4x4 and cables are for though, right??? My wife thinks I'm nuts and my buddy's butt will probably be puckered to front seat (he's never driven through the snow). I expect to have fun with it though, that's for sure!!!

I've heard the snow level is supposed to be pretty high, 7000ft+ and Loon is 6500ft so other than maybe a light dusting it shouldn't be too bad. Your biggest problem is likely to be after the front passes and stuff starts to freeze. Good Luck and let us know how you do.

Just a caution, be careful if you have a bigger boat. I was up there last weekend and they had pulled the ramp out of the water. The launch is shallow but paved, stay to your left as your backing down the pavement drops off pretty abruptly on the right. Watch out for shallow submerged rocks and good luck. 8-)

Thanks, fishlipd. I was looking for that advice about the ramp. I have a 20 foot fiberglass boat, so we'll be ginger all day long. May not even ever fire up the big motor. Just get the little 5 horse going right off the dock and just putt around all day, keeping a close eye out for those big boulders underneath.

There's no dock in the water at Loon right now.
