It was this last weekend 10/13-10/14. I was actually the big fish winner :). $3000 tagger was caught by a 14 year old :o

4lb 3.5oz

I got it on a weighted bobber with a minicrawler from the bank. We did really good with nightcrawlers all weekend.

Looking at a map, McSwain looks to be very narrow. Anyone do any trolling there? Does it get a little crowded? Appreciate input.

It was managable during the derby,I'm sure it would be fine on a normal day. I didn't have any trouble trolling during the derby. Its fairly wide.

4 lbs, 3 oz? Nice. Crawler and bobber? something to be said about sticking to the basics! My friend got the big fish of the trip (to Mammoth Lks area) a couple weeks back. 4 lbs, 10 oz, on what? crawler and a bobber! ;D

Beware of trolling Mcswain lost a downrigger ball just after the bathroom in about 47' water at 25' down. Caught most of my fish in top water about 75'-100' back w/ vance flashers and chartruese wedding ring/1/2nitecrawler combo. Hope that helps. :)

I've had my down rigger weights hung up before there too.

But I didn't lose them.

I also have had the most luck top lining there. ;)

i've heard the water's real clear there. do you downsize leader/line? and do you topline naked? or with flashers/dodgers? thanks for any help.

Mc Swain is just downstream from Mc Clure Res. The water in Mc Swain is cold since it comes out the bottom of the upper lake. You can catch fish there all year without D Rs, Don't need them since the fish are up. The lake is not very deep except right in front of the dam, North side. Leaded line flashers and night crawlers are usually the hot ticket there. AND NO LAKE LICE allowed . I do not fish there because most of the fish are recent plants. They plant the lake often and really cater tyhe fisherman. There are a lot of people that camp there and a lot of successful shore fishing takes place. IM

I know right where that snag is by the outhouse. Got my downrigger ball but I got it loose. If you fish there fish shallow.

North side of the lake going west from the SS relief,we kept getting hung up on weeds, right where the dirt roads/trees start.
