It had been nearly 2 weeks sense I had caught a fish. What with visiting relatives, bad weather and a bad case of the stomach flu I hadn't even been fishing. What better way to cure this than with a loop trip to Walker Rivers. First stop West Walker River. Stopped at my special place mid canyon South of the town of Walker. On the first cast I caught a 14" Bow. In a half hour of fishing I C&R 4 Bows from 14 - 18 inches on a barbless 1/4 oz gold Panther Martin. Next stop was the bridges of the Little Walker. The Water was low and nothing seemed to be happening so we moved on. On the way to the East Walker stopped at Bridgeport Res by the Dam. The water was low and because of wind blown algae the water was unfishable from shore. Fished the East Walker to the Nevada state line. No fish, no strikes. The watel level was good but lots of weeds. I saw only one other fisherman in this stretch of River. Last stop the Rosaschi Ranch section of the East Walker in Nevada. Fished just upstream of the bridge and caught one small Bow. Talked to a fly angler who was leaving just as we arrived. He had caught 15 or so small Bows. He said that the Browns were not in the area because they trying to spawn up feeder creeks. Rosaschi Ranch is a special place and if you are a fly fisherman any where in this part of the world and haven't fished it you are missing a real treat. It is open all year around with SINGLE barbless hooks and a limit of zero.

All in all a good day.

Great report as usual Cap. *Nice to see you're on the mend. *Like you said, nothing better than a day fishing to cure what ails ya. * [smiley=angling.gif] *I love this time of year on the Walkers. *Although it sounds like the low water is taking its toll, the beauty and the color of this time of year is stunning. *I only hope there's still some color left when I get to Truckee later this month. *Thanks for the pics. *Those sure are some pretty bows.

Thanks Hog. The only other time I fished here I caught two small Browns below the bridge. All in all I've spent less than an hour fishing the area it's always the last place I stop. I need to spend a whole day here and go down stream and try the Elbow area towards Lucky Boy Pass. Both times I've been here we have been in Mrs Compassions car and she wont travel much on dirt roads. Got to bring my 4-Runner.

you don't need the 4-runner, the road is real good at the elbow area about 6 miles in the dirt road off the hiway...the only problem may be some deep ruts but a truck will make it fine...

I know this Hog. It's a very nice dirt road. A wonderful dirt road as far as Nevada dirt roads go but I have learned in 36 years of marriage that there are other considerations that trump logic. It's Mrs. Compassion's car and Mrs. Compassion's rules.

27 years and still asking the wrong questions and giving the wrong answers. It must be love. No one could have explained it better then you just did Cap'n.
